Eternalized. This is the 8 of us who graced Red Box (The Curve) last Friday, on a 4-hour karaoke sojourn with 5 jugs of beer and 3 mics. From the left is my Irish sidekick; Brendan (who share exchangeable passion for movies and retro music); Lina - the HR of the company and my fellow advocate for righteousness; Crystal, who’s the birthday girl - my team member; Alvin - the IT project exec - once belonged in my team but I gave him away; Hong Kiat - the Creative wizard - a person who share the same cause for success; Chelva - the only programmer in the company with common sense and sense of humour; and there’s Stanley, an open-minded and hammy dude with a good heart. I belted about 12 songs, including Bon Jovi’s Have a Nice Day and ended it with Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror (where all of us sang together). A truly memorable evening. All for the price of RM50, which is a deal of the century.
We savored a buffet dinner included in the package. The food was pretty appetizing than what I initially had expected. I sampled a variety of dishes (the best was the sweet-sour muscles), shying away from anything that resembled pork. I don’t consume pork you see - since birth. Apparently, when I was 5, my mom used to feed me with a assortment of fixings, and when it came to pork, I automatically regurgitated. It was not until 12 that I realized what pigs feed. Pigs are filthy creatures, and thanks to my natural instinct, my body’s free of it.
This photo, which my right hand captured, is a classic moment between 2 recreation nutters. I finally had the mettle to shaving my head (DIY) to conserve its polished baldness, once in every 2 days in fact. It hurt at first, blemishes everywhere, but I soon got the hang of it. The geezer next to me, is none other than the legendary Brendan - the Irish wankster. He’s a fun bloke to hang out with, though some homosapiens may not get along his extroverted personality, because this dude can babble, I mean can really babble - like an energizer bunny. I can interrelate with him, because we have so many things in common. After the night concluded at 12am, (we didn’t managed to sing the last 2 songs - Proclaimer’s 500 Miles and Shaggy’s In the Summertime - just for fux), we adjourned to Bojangles, Hartamas - a place that is slowly turning out to be our second “home”. We’ve been “homeless” ever since Waikiki PJ became a commercial ca-ca. It didn’t help at all with Bangsar closing at 2am - Waikiki is plagued with the Indians of Indians, and it can get quite dispiriting. Furthermore, the music sucks because the DJs seem to be running out of ideas to keep up with the times. Waikiki used to be our house of music worship for 2 years and mine for 3 years. The pub today, is rotten, but sometimes, when one gets exceedingly desperate to extend drinking sessions after 2am, they all go to Waikiki - the Indian population of Klang Valley.
Can someone give me a loan up front so I could open a pub and play purely retro music? - and also maybe coalesce all songs (from 50s to date) all night long that the pub goers will not be able to classify the type music diddled. Hence, I shall name the pub The Rojak Kojak.
Well, one thing I that learned about life, is that no moment will ever be the same, although we all want a repeat of it, but a one-off moment lasts forever than an attempted recreated moment, because it’ll tarnish the one-off memory. Am I making any sense?
I’m eagerly anticipating great fun ahead of Fort Minor’s concert, Grease the Musical and the F1 grand prix - wanna join me? Look, don’t just sit back and watch life pass you by, and then feel sorry for yourself, because time waits for no one, and you may think you’re content with life, but I guarantee that you’ll look back years from now, with ruefulnesses and “should’ve”s. Come take a sit next to me on the rollercoaster - grab life by the balls and power through!
