Learning How to Fall (Surviving Lent)

5 days and counting. Another 35 days to go before my sinnings resume again. LOL! To all you lifetime vegetarians, I salute you, cause 40 days is one thing, forever is another! Most of my meals so far has orbited around tofu (Cheeselike food made of curdled soybean milk), not the grooviest dish in the world. But, I’m pulling through. I’m learning how to fall.

For the first time in a dozen weekends, I had fun without the presence of alcohol. An alcohol-free weekend. I went bowling last Friday, 4 games, but they were all below par. The most commanding I scored was a scrimpy 141. We finished around 1am, and then adjourned to the game arcade next door (Midvalley) and mollycoddled ourselves. From racing buses to shooting mummies, it was good clean fun.

Saturday (last night), I went to Passion and then manoeuvered to Rum Jungle. I wanted to take my UK colleagues to Nouvo but evidently I was informed that there will be a monolithic police operation that night on major dance clubs. At last, the cops are doing something right! I didn’t want to be in a raid, simply because it’ll take forever just to winkle out.

Passion was so-so, not really my type of genre, though I can handle House music. We later adjourned to Poppy Garden but it was packed by wannabes who believe dancing is all about repeated hip movement and the flailing of arms. They seem to have digested the fact of being distant relations to chimpanzees to heart. Hahaha!

My colleagues bought a bottle of JD in Rum Jungle for RM310, so I got in for free and gormandized on coke (yuck!) all night. I was savouring the night canvassing the crowd. BTW, I have a soft spot for Malay women (my ex of 3 years was Malay), and wouldn’t be balled over if I ended up espousing one. Mohd Daniel eh? ;-P

BTW, have you heard of INXS’s new single, Afterglow? I think it’s a reverberant song and I’m really looking forward to their forthcoming concert in Malaysia this June (tentatively). Just hope that Bryan Adams and U2 will adorn Malaysia before they kick the bucket.
