What happens when you throw 18 men in a futsal court to play a mini league? MAYHEM. Suddenly, our neandertal instincts kicked in and next thing you know tackles were flying in all over the place. The combat zone; Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, South East Asia, Asia.

This time, we furcated the teams based on the 3 departments. The favorites, were Al’s team, with a very potent lineup. My team and Bren’s team were credibly joint second favorites on paper.

Guts, determination, and the will to win was there for all to see. Here are the final scores of the 6 games that took place between Team ALAN, Team BRENDAN & my team (Team DANIEL).

GS FUTSAL LEAGUE
Match 1: ALAN 3 BRENDAN 2
Match 2: DANIEL 3 BRENDAN 0
Match 3: ALAN 1 DANIEL 3
Match 4: BRENDAN 3 ALAN 1
Match 5: BRENDAN 2 DANIEL 3
Match 6: DANIEL 1 ALAN 3

25 goals were shipped in, with ALAN himself finished up as the top scorer with 4 goals. The player of the “tournament” was my team’s versatile goalkeeper, BOON. He was SPIDERMAN. And I had the last say in the 6th game when I railroaded 2 own goals that culminated in my team’s only defeat. My team didn’t really ran amok because we knew that we were already league champions. Tempers were flaring, but all in the spirit of the game.

My team, the GS FUTSAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS, has bragging rights yet again, until the next LEAGUE instalment, in all likelihood after the WORLD CUP. :-)

We’d still be standing when all was said and done
Blood on blood, one on one
And I’ll be here for you til kingdom come, blood on blood..” - Bon Jovi’s Blood on Blood (New Jersey, 1988)
