This is easily the most exciting World Cup ! Thanks to Adidas’s Teamgeist, we have eyewitnessed some delectable goals and super saves! Torsten Fring’s goal for GERMANY in their opening match WAS the goal of the tournament for me, until ARGENTINA came along, made 24 passes and Cambiasso finishing with aplomb! Now that to me IS the goal of the tournament. What next? A player tackling 8 opponents and clobbering the ball into the back of the net? I just voodooed it, didn’t I? LOL!Â
Here are the top games so far in the World Cup (in chronological order):
1) Germany vs Costa Rica : 4-2
2) Argentina vs Ivory Coast : 2-1
3) USA vs Czech : 0-3
4) Australia vs Japan : 3-1
5) Spain vs Ukraine : 4-0
6) Germany vs Poland : 1-0
7) Ecuador vs Costa Rica : 3-0
Argentina vs Serbia : 6-0
9) Holland vs Ivory Coast : 2-1
10) Czech vs Ghana : 0-2
11) Italy vs USA : 1-1
Games that stunk! (Both ENGLAND & PORTUGAL matches!!)
1) England vs Paraguay : 1-0
2) Angola vs Portugal : 0-1
3) France vs Switzerland : 0-0
4) England vs Trinidad : 2-0
5) Portugal vs Iran : 2-0Â
1) England vs Paraguay : 1-0
2) Angola vs Portugal : 0-1
3) France vs Switzerland : 0-0
4) England vs Trinidad : 2-0
5) Portugal vs Iran : 2-0Â

friend, when you actually play football, i hope you keep your eye on the ball instead of the balls, ok?

Hmmm the match between USA and Italy, was so far, among the most interesting match in WC06. I guess the Italian simply failed to do their Italian job neatly…However, I think USA did a good job, even though they’re down to 9 players.

ducky Thank you for those wise words, oh quacky one…you should become Malaysia’s next coach…they need people like you…
Ennie Yes, it was an entertaining game. Looking forward to this group’s last matches, Italy vs Czech and USA vs Ghana. Is this the best world cup ever or what? Thanks to them Adidas balls!

Daniel, you seem to like the high-scoring games. Personally all the drama and antics from USA/Italy was the highlight so far for me.
For that match, the Uruguayan ref must have taken some angry pills before going on the pitch. If he dished out 1 more red card against the Yanks, USA might have declared way on Uruguay
Foul play award (if there was one) should go to Italian defender “Dirty” De Rossi for his deliberate elbow on McBride.

bankman yes, it seems hard not to. Though I enjoyed every minute of the US-Italy game in terms of drama, but for teamwork and quality I’d have to say the Argentina’s 6-0 win.
De Rossi was dirty. He should be banned for this World Cup. Period.
Yesterday’s 2 early games were boring!! Japan vs Croatia and Brazil vs Australia. *YAWNS*

Agreed with most of your plugs, Dan. I would only add the Brazil and Aust game to tha top list - really enjoyed that one. even the Mrs was screaming in excitement. And yes, we were watching the game!

Also, I do think the Uruguayan ref was unfairly vilified. He got all three red cards right in my view.
But some of the other yellows could have been avoided. Who knows, Eddie Pope may have stayed on for a 10 against 10.
Out with De Rossi. I’m withdrawing support for the Italians in all of their other games because of this one incident which really put me off.
Except if they play England. Might not even watch that game!

keropok Nice of you to drop by again, was getting worried of your absence…
Come to think of it, Brazil were never REALLY threatened. That’s why I was disappointed with Viduka.
I totally agree with you on the Uruguayan ref’s call on the RED cards. Will be skipping tonight’s games…in dire need of rest…

I quote the commentator, “the referee is showing red cards like confetti!”

Cheers, mate. Been having a busy weekend. When not watching football (or sleeping) I got to do the necessary to keep the Mrs happy - grocery shopping, fixing that leaky sink, and going to the odd family function or two.
All the men at that function were twitching as it got closer to 8:30pm. We all made it home on time

neil As the Ivory Coast coach aptly put it, “The Dutch has ONE Robben and the Argentinians have NINE Robbens..”
bengster Well, the red cards were reasonable in my opinion…and I hope De Rossi is banned for the remainder of the tournament.
keropok Aiyaiyai…I shudder when I think about what will happen in 2010’s WC. Would probably be in the same boat as you…have to start planning excuses now as 2010 is only 4 years away!!! LOL

I’ll be happy to share some tips bro. She watched the Brazil v Australia matched with me and was screaming away in delight… even louder than I was.
If it keeps going this way, it’s gonna be a great WC indeed.
I share your sentiments for De Rossi. Ugly bugger, ugly stunt.
