The Gallivantings of Daniel Franklin Gomez

Well, 6 games gone, and 2 upsets so far. Who’s next to upset the applecart? Japan? Ghana? USA? The Holland game was technically OKAY, though not winning over fans. They dallied a risklessness overture, hence the lack of goal melee. I scrambled to stay awake in the second half. I didn’t even bother watching Mexico-Iran and Angola-Portugal, credibly the feeblest group in the world cup. I don’t think neither Mexico nor Portugal have the firepower to make the quarterfinals. I could be wrong though as football is full of surprises. Well, I don’t really care who wins it, as long as it’s not Brazil (for sporting reasons) and England (for haughtiness). The English epitomizes arrogance. They think they can win the World Cup after decollating Jamaica 6-0 and Paraguay 1-0. And what’s with the beanpole klutz from Liverpool? A robo-dance? What a retard! 

I am planning to catch Australia vs Japan tonight, and if I’m not exhausted, it’s a toss up between USA vs Czech or Italy vs Ghana. I still haven’t shaken off the virus I caught last Monday.

I feel like spouting about English mongrels. Snobs. Still boasting about 1966 til date, and the 5-1 mauling of the Germans a few years ago. Here’s a recent conversation I had with an “Ing-Ger-Lund” supporter the other day (conversation was edited and toned down a little);

England: “So what country are you supporting for the World Cup la?”
Me: “The host team, Germany.”
England: “Why la? They so strong meh? They surely won’t win one I tell you..”
Me: “I’m hoping they qualify for the semi-finals, that’s all.”
England: “Maybe can lah because home team. England will win this. They will beat Brazil.”
Me: “I don’t think so, England will only win enemies in this world cup..”
England: “At least we don’t lose 5-1 in our home soil!”
Me: “True, and at least we don’t win only ONE world cup. Three to be exact.”

Back to my rant, have you ever noticed Germans bragging about their World Cup trophies and European Championships? England fans are still gasconading, some 40 years later. After winning the 1966 World Cup with a contentious goal, the England wanks have been predicting World Cup success for their country in 1970, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002. Hello, ONE world cup and you think you’re footballing Gods?! Self-obsessed drongos.

Seriously though, if Germany wins the cup, I’d say luck will play a big part in it.

To quote a writeup from a website; “England fans run around shouting “Two World Wars and One World Cup”, while the Germans sit quiet and ponder on their seven World Cup finals, three World Cup victories, three European Championship victories.” 

So, here’s to England not winning the World Cup. If they do, we’ll never hear the end of it.
