Before I divvy up my throughts on the France-Portugal game, I would like to recapitulate on the Germany vs Italy last night. Alas, my team are eliminated by Italians, who were the better side for most of the match and deserved a place in the final. Italy had more ideas and were victors in midfield, though in the second half, Germany faired better. By Klinsi substituting Borowski with the toothless Schweinsteiger, it only made the midfield more fallible. As I have cited, Klinsmann is not bestowed with talented Germans, and did extremely well to get them this far. They equaled Argentina but couldn’t get a grip of this game. 2 technically caliber sides back to back took its toll on them. There were no stars in this German team, they just functioned really well as a unit.
Germany were evenhandedly beaten by an impressive Italian team. Even the most enthusiastic German fan like me cannot dispute that. So, emotionally, it’s not too discomfiting to take this result by the chin. Germany had already achieved so much simply by being here.
Good luck Italy. If Italy meet Portugal in the final, they’ll clobber the living daylights out of them, but, if they meet France in the final, then it’s anyone’s game.
France, spearheaded by Zidane and Henry, should brush aside Portugal, though it may not be as straightforward as Brazil. Deco will return, so he will certainly have a say in this. However, I think the French enginery may be too much for the Portuguese to cope. Personally, I would prefer France in the final because they’ll surely give the Italians a battle. It would be an anti-climax is Portugal makes it.

they should not have taken out borowski, but ballack instead. though the italians were superior i dont like their overly reacted expression tactics, eg fake falls and all.

ducky I somewhat agree. Shouldn’t have substituted Borowski for that Schweinsteiger fella. I suppose you can’t substitute Ballack. He’s a match winner. No matter how poor he was, he could turn the game on its head. I think he was not fully fit.
ghim eu Wow…the ball is round? LOL! I suppose you’re standing up for that Italian comment. I think they are a great side, just need to weed out the dramatic acting from their game.
keropok Err…because your missus will beat the living daylights out of you? Why don’t you pay for my flight ticket and let me go instead (tho its too late)? I’m sure I could better with photographing beauties…
Not quite, there’s that waste-of-space 3rd place playoff.
