If any of those names sound familiar, then welcome to being old my friends. What do those names have in common then? Simple! If you have noticed the topic, it’s the 1990s ONE HIT WONDERS. I know that there are more songs out there, but these artistes and their one-hit songs, I like. Were there any ONE-HIT WONDER artistes who tickled your fancy in the 90s?

Sinead O’Connor - Nothing Compares 2U
Shakespeare’s Sister - Stay
Los Del Rio - Macarena
Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5
OMC - How Bizarre
Gosh! 4 more years & you’ll be posting on one-hit wonders of 2000’s
October 15th, 2006 at 11:37am
endroo G What an annoying song that was. LOL. I forgot about Semisonic, that’s a cool one-hit wonder…
Ness Yes to both 4 Non Blondes and Extreme. By the way, it’s “What’s Up?” and not “What’s Going On”….
Jemima Sinead O’Connor’s song was written by Prince. Yes to Shakespeare’s Sister. No to Macarena. Didn’t Lou Bega have 2 more hits, “I Got a Girl” and “The Trumpet”? OMC is OMD (Orchestral Manouevers in the Dark) actually, and they definitely had a number of hit songs prior to “How Bizarre”. The one that stands out for me was “Enola Gay”.

Enola Gay… the aeroplane which dropped Little Boy in Hiroshima.

i can only think of one song — the lemon tree. simply because you can hear it where ever you go. especially in sg wang. it’s like their theme song!! LOL.
October 15th, 2006 at 3:38pm
endroo G Interesting, I didn’t know that.
Larawannabe Not surprised at all. Did you hear the original version or the fengtao-rized one? LOL

Dakota Moon - A promise I made
Len - Steal my sunshine
Lemon tree was one of those classics! Annoying too
October 15th, 2006 at 10:45pm
Did u say 90s, the one off hit?
Big Big World - Emilia
Hope i didnt get it wrong…it should be late 90s, 1998.
October 15th, 2006 at 11:34pm
Lex Dakota Moon has a hit prior to that one actually, “Another Day Goes By”. I like Len’s Steal My Sunshine, though kinda dorky…
meekiee Big Big World is the feminine response to Lemon Tree. Double yucks! LOL
October 15th, 2006 at 11:37pm
hahaha I agree. Ugly enough to have reminded me! LOL
I have this tune “Shake your bon bon” playing in my mind. But I like Robbie Williams more.
October 15th, 2006 at 11:53pm
~OoooOOhh~ I didn’t know that. I’ve always thought it was “What’s going on”.
Thanks for that Daniel! I learn something new today =D
October 16th, 2006 at 12:02am
meekiee Shake You Bon Bon is Ricky Martin. The ONLY song that I like from him is LABOMBA. I have a gay colleague who thinks that Robbie Williams is the ultimate symbol of gayness. LOL
Ness A title that is not used ANYWHERE in the song. I’m sure there are loads of songs like that.
October 16th, 2006 at 5:01am
Hey, Dan. Thanks for the info.
The songs that I commented earlier were the only ones that I know from them.
I can’t recall those that you mentioned.
Thanks again, Tokoh Lagu & Musik.
Have a great week & HUGS!

October 16th, 2006 at 9:47am
Jemima Tokoh lagu? LOL
tihtahpah How did I miss this? Definitely. Love that song!
earl-ku Only 5? What’s wrong with ya? Hehehehe!
October 16th, 2006 at 11:04am
hehe, I know is Ricky Martin lah. I just drop that subject and switch to Robbie Williams. His Rock DJ is cool! I like that MTV cuz it’s freaky weird & scary! And his “Come Undone” lotsa reptiles… yew! What ya colleague said is not important. Do u agree then? LOL
October 16th, 2006 at 12:54pm
Some of those names are familiar, but I’m definitely not old!
October 16th, 2006 at 12:56pm
meekiee I agree with my colleague that Robbie Williams songs are gay. LOL
Sha Old at heart…

Hey Dan, this is nothing to do with your post. Just wanna find out if your friend has decided between blogspot or wordpress yet?
I haven’t heard from her at all.
October 16th, 2006 at 9:52pm
Jemima Sorry bout that, she seems to be tied up with work, hence no time to even look at things. I’ve already reminded her to reply to you when she’s free.
Thanks for you help - really do appreciate it.
October 17th, 2006 at 5:15am
It’s OK, Dan. No problem at all. I just hope that the info is what she’s after.
October 17th, 2006 at 9:01am
She Drives Me Crazy- Fine Young Cannibals, Heaven Knows- Rick Price or something like that, Baby Baby- Amy Grant, Saving My Love- Shanice, Love Will Lead You Back- Taylor Dayne…..phew…
October 17th, 2006 at 9:05am
tihtahpah FYC had another hit called “Good Thing”. Rick Price had small hits in “Walk Away Renee” and “Nothing Can Stop Us Now”, Shanice had a bigger hit with “I Love Your Smile”. Yes to Taylor Dayne.
October 17th, 2006 at 11:57am
Sorree, ya? But Nelson…twin sons of Rick(y) Nelson, singer from 50s/60s who dies in plane crash or sumthin! Taylor Dayne had two albums at least and a couple of hits (fast songs) beside “Love will lead u back” (Um…love this song!). One hit wonder? “That thing u do” by the Wonders from the movie about one-hit-wonder starring Tom Hanks.
October 17th, 2006 at 12:06pm
suituapui Excellent. I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing that out to me. See Jemima, I ain’t no tokoh music. LOL. The Wonders are definitely a one-hit wonder. Yes, now I remember Taylor Dayne’s “Tell It to My Heart…”. Thanks!
October 22nd, 2006 at 12:10am
Just got this at the back of my mind.
If u ask this question again in another 5 years time,
“What is your one-hit wonder in the 2000s?”
I will say….
“You’re beautiful…”
haha…yah i know i should be in bed now and not commenting this crap. LOL
October 22nd, 2006 at 1:10am

October 22nd, 2006 at 1:25pm
