Did you know that Jon Bon Jovi sang with Pavarotti some years ago? Pavarotti annually hosts “Pavarotti & Friends” charity concert in Italy. It was back in 1998, when Jon Bon Jovi appeared in Italy to sing a live duet with the fat bastard (I blame Austin Powers! LOL).
It’s an extremely pleasing song, and I love it. I passed it around to some friends back then, they couldn’t get enough of it and it spread like a wildfire. I became the talk of the town (Penang). LOL. Okay, just being a tad dramatic there, I meant the song of course! The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.Â
Were there any unexpected musical collaborations that tickled your fancy?
Luciano Pavarotti feat Jon Bon Jovi - Let it Rain
Last night I had a dream that there would be a morning after
Long days, sunshine, and peace
Long nights of love, forgiveness, and laughter
Maybe it was just a dream but it could be reality
Children are like planting seeds, you’ve got to let their flowers grow
Don’t you know
Fa che piova, (Let it rain)
Fa che il cielo mi lavi il dolor (Let heaven wash away my pain)
Fa che piova (Let it rain)
che sia la pace il nome d’amor (That peace would be the name of love)
Through the rain I saw a child just like my child
Someone’s son or daughter
I watched as they played for a while
I wanted to cry, those babies just smiled
Maybe it was just a dream, but it should be reality
A child is just God’s sign that peace and love are seeds to make
tomorrow grow
Go on, we’ve tried war
No one wants peace more
Than the children who ask their dads why

Miss Sarajevo by U2 & Pavorotti gets more airplay. Actually, I don’t think I ever heard this song being played on any radio stations.

Jemima I know. I can safely say that majority of us haven’t heard of this song, probably all.
Were there any more sang-froid collaborations that went under the radar?

tihtahpah Paul McCartney had no choice but to do a duet with MJ, who owns half of Beatles.
I find Destiny’s Child chafing.
meekiee You little girl you.
If you want that mp3, just holla.
Alex Heard of the U2/Green Day song, but doesn’t grab my attention.
tihtahpah You should be my housemate, so I could leave Limewire permanently on so you could open my eyes to more songs.

Something Stupid is a remake. It proved Nicole Kidman can’t sing to save her life.

Before I forget : John Denver once sang Perhaps Love with Placido Domingo although I also remember he sang it with Pavorotti too. Great lyrics.
Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort
It is there to keep you warm
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home

Wombat That Something Stupid remake was a disaster. Robbie Williams needs to be put to sleep!
