All For the Love of Boy Bands

Like it or not, everyone had, at one time, a favorite boy band. Beetles, New Kids Otak Tak Betul, Gayzone, Michael Learns to Suck. My favorite “boy” band, though I only loved (still do) 4 songs from them, was, *DRUM ROLL*…..Color Me Badd! Having said that, I detested “I Wanna Sex You Up” and “I Adore Mi Amor”. Gangrening songs. It was “All For Love” that had me balled over. It was so sensuous, and cool at the same time, that 15 year olds found it difficult not to bop to. 
Who was/is your favorite boyband? Guys Next Door? Backstreet Boys? N Sync? Nirvana? LOL

Larawannabe Well, I don’t think Wham’s a boyband as their songs are not “manufactured”. Take That’s definitely a boy band. I hate Westlife, they’re desecrating old songs. Uptown Girl will never be the same again. LOL
Kenny Ng Dude, by boyband I mean manufactured popcorn stuff. Having said that, Pink Floyd’s definitely a boyband. Hahahaha!

A1, Boyzone, Savage Garden, BBmak, 98 Degrees.

Jemima 98 Degrees – Invisible Man + Take My Breath Away (no, it’s not a Berlin remake). Il Divo is not a boyband, it’s a gayband. LOL.
meekiee All 4 One? Boyz II Men is not a boyband as their music is no way “manufactured popcorn”. Same goes to Il Divo.

WasteLife, CantSing, Backside Boys, Suck That, Boys Do It To Men, these were alternative names often given to boy bands by some.
My fave? At one time, it was 911 and I listened to 911 for 6 months before I found out they are not African-Americans but caucasians! (The other misconception was I have always thought that Steve Winwood is black until I saw his face on the cover of Back In The High Life album)
Thereafter my fave boyband remained the Backside Boys until today. Their early songs are pure boyband songs written to drive young chicks wild with orgasm, but their later works are better and more serious.

Wombat Agreed. Backside Boys’ new material is much better, moving away from popcorn stuff. Tho I’d have to admit, I did like “As Long As You Love Me” for cheesy reasons. LOL. Steve Winwood is definitely white!

hmmm…i was never really a fan of boy bands, per se. the closest thing would probably be boy rock bands. i was a big follower of kurt cobain’s nirvana and guns n roses

Savage Garden is not a boyband… And it’s a real pity that they splitted. The songs they write together are just awesome!!

I never liked Wastelife as they remake many of Abba’s songs.
Nirvana a boy band ??? You must be kidding. They’re geniuses. RIP Kurt Cobain !!!!
My favourite boy band ? Hmm…. not really into them. But Backside Boys fared well among the rest of them. Wombat is right.. they’re getting more serious in their music.

Not a fan of commercial boybands that’s definite. But dont mind Take That only because Robbie Williams is sexy
. And must admit that New Kids On The Block had me hooked for a while n years ago, especially the Hangin’ Tough album..hehehehe

wow i see so many bhoybands here..
durin my *erhem* primary-secondary sch years.. it was backstreet boys, savage garden, michael learns to rock (lol my mum loved this band), A1, Take That, … yeah till it became Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party..
yeah never reli liked Westlife though… but then later i tot they were not bad. Hmm.. Does the 3 tenors count? Pavarroti, placido domingo, and carreras?wahahha…

Che-Cheh The only song that I like from Otak Tak Betul was Cover Girl during Form 1.
Boyzone should be banned from radios. Period.

Joash Savage Garden is no boyband, though they come really close. I like “Santa Monica”.

endroo G Westlife killed music. I was pulling your leg w the Nirvana thing. But I don’t think Cobain’s a genius, they only became famous because he died and there was a lot of angst at that time after what boybands gave us.
Oasis is alright with me, definitely not a boyband.
tihtahpah Isn’t Take That is a bootleg version of NKOTB? That Hangin Tough album, well, was so-so, but when their second album was launched, it made Hangin Tough a classic. LOL

Alex MLTR are definitely popcorn. If you play their songs non-stop, you wouldn’t notice the difference. Suddenly remembered Trademark, Nu Flavor and Dakota Moon, though I don’t think Dakota Moon falls in this category.

Galli: well… i dont know what d’ya think bout Nirvana… to me.. I define boyband are those who dont play instrument in their performances. Plain dancing and doing movez are boyband. Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Will Champion and the likes…. don’t look “boyband” to me. What say you?

I am abit worried now actually cause I don’t remember being a groupie to any boybands.
