Seoul. 30th Dec - 6 Jan 2007. It felt great just to see my best friend Rudy again after a little over a year. And she’s doing really well. A week in Seoul was entertaining, except the last couple of days when I was sick as a dog. :-P

New Year 2007

I craved for my favorite spicy octopus dish, to which Rudy’s dad was ever so kind enough to prepare it for me to feast on. The fresh oysters were really ambrosian (and I mean FRESH), but I was not too gaga over it like my best friend. Rudy, if oysters become extinct, I’ll tell everyone it was your doing. :-P

And by the way, I ate LIVE octopus ala Amazing Race. It was “lively” to say the least. LOL.

I Saw the Sign!

Seoul didn’t know how to welcome a new year compared to us Malaysians. Perhaps they didn’t think New Year’s was big deal. There were scarcely people of the streets, and that was disappointing. We ended a long night at a club, where myself and my buddy locomoted back in time by dancing into the New Year. It was fun, and it seemed that someone told the DJ to play Bon Jovi. :-) “Livin’ On a Prayer” came on and I got this group of Korean girls to sing into my make-believe mic whenever the chorus played. Also managed to boogie with 2 Bulgarian chicks, and an out-of-nowhere Korean woman, exhibiting her tongue and stuff. Luckily Rudy saved me. LOL.

Seoul Tower

I managed to do a little sightseeing albeit my poorly condition. I have “misunderestimated” the Korea weather by only donning a few layers of clothing. I visited Seoul Tower and did the Hangang river cruise. Seoul Tower was just like any other towers that I’ve been to. My favorite remains the CN Tower in Toronto, with a glass-floor at the viewing area. :-)

The Silhoutte

What’s gonna happen to Santa Claus once the North Pole ceases to exist in 30 years’ time? No more ice, sea levels rising a dozen feet or so, annihilating vast amount of land, and the tiny Singapore in its pernicious process.

Santa Lives There?

Whenever I see/hear about North Koreans, it never fails to put a smirk on my face. Thanks to Kim Jong Il, who was taken to the cleaners in “Team America”, which had me in stitches a few years ago. Matt Damon, the buffoon, was not spared too. LOL.

Oh Those North Koreans...
Wank You Kim Jong Il!

It was (yet again) a memorable vacation to Seoul, and I’m hoping to visit it for the third time next year. Here are the rest of the photos from my Seoul searching trip. :-)

It was so much fun. And man…I can’t believe you got sick.

    I am so perasan…LOL :D

I can’t wait to visit Malaysia. It’s been 8 years since my last visit after living there for about 20 years of my life.
That’s right Daniel…annual suffering contract has renewed itself and we are coming to paint the town red with you.

    LOVE YA *hugs*

P.S I have the URL of his first trip to Seoul and the URL last year.

  4. Refer the drinks menu. Douglas Adams is right. Every sentient civilisation in this galaxy (possibly the universe as well) has indeed discovered “Gin & Tonic” as a drink. The difference is in how the drink is called on different planets e.g. “Jinx Un Tonik”, “Ginotonic”, “Zheen an doneyc”.

So in Seoul they call it “JIN & Tonic” eh?

I wonder what they will call Black Lusian (Black Russian lah) on the planet of Squanmellous Beta in sector Plural ZZ9 Alpha?

  5. Nice pics! Btw, what camera u usin?

  6. hongkiat Cheers!

Jemima There there, shall I bring some Seoul to you instead since I’m technically a Seoul giver? :-P
Rudy Anyong haseyo Oyster girl! ;-) Looking forward to the annual suffering this year! What can I say, I’m a sucker for punishment. LOL

several of my korean friends also like to wake up to see the first sunrise of the year.

  8. Kelvin Hahahahahaha! Those photos are laughable my friend, only confirms the piteous state of celebration. :-D

  9. these photos are just from the fringes of the celebrations. i didnt want to go further bcos of the crowd.

in any case, most east asian cultures give greater importance to the lunar new year and the mid autumn festival.

  10. You are absolutely right Kelvin. I wanted to show Daniel the party areas. I didn’t even think about central city. Man, I took Daniel to the Palace on his first visit but I totally didn’t even think about that. Plus, we went to Itaewon because of Steve, thank God for dancing at Helios.

    :)

  11. Enjoyed the picts..love it there.
You know the picts you took are always damn interesting!

  12. Kelvin Well, I’ll be sure to remind Rudy to take me to the right place the next time I’m in Seoul celebrating the New Year’s! :-)
Rudy You have failed as a tour guide. :-P Luckily we didn’t stay at the Goldbar and moved on to Helios. Dancing was fun!

Che-Cheh Well, life’s all about taking the RIGHT photos. Too many posed photos are dull. ;-)

  13. Ah ya..don ler say like that Daniel…*Rudy sobs and hide in a corner*

  14. Wow!!

  15. Korea looks awesome, and you sure looked like you had fun..

What, no picture of the spicy octopus dish to make us all feel hungry on this cold rainy night? :P

  16. Rudy Don’t worry, we’ll have a lifetime to remedy that! :-P

Lina Yes, lots and lots more, click on Rudy’s comment links above. ;-)

Sha I did have fun, til I fell sick! I’m not one of those LAME bloggers who post pictures of food. What’s the point? We know the camera lies… :-P
