If you like listening to Hitz FM, Mix FM, Light & Cheesy Easy, Traxx FM, Fly FM and all that poop, get a life! I was without my car for 2 days (involved in a minor accident), so I borrowed my family’s car to work, and thought I’d give radio stations a chance, as it’s been almost 10 years since I abandoned its hogwash commercialisation. What a waste of time! Nothing has changed.
Songs are trumpery, DJs think they are cool when they’re actually freaking plaguey, and radio jingles that think they’re artful. During my 1/2 hour drive to the office, I probably listened to 3 songs, thanks to the nonstop yapping by idiotic DJs. Don’t be a loser, boycott radio stations! ![]()

Jemima Sorry, I’m not saintly like you.
What happened to the good old days of Radio? I kinda miss Patrick Teoh. Radio went to the dogs when Hitz FM came to live.
January 25th, 2007 at 8:01am
Patrick Teoh and his ghost stories..at least he had substance! And, can’t stand Richard Ng.
January 25th, 2007 at 8:33am
I haven’t even listened to the radio in ages haha. Cds and er.. Mp3s all the way!
January 25th, 2007 at 8:48am
Yup. Radio sux. Yapping & yapping nonstop!
January 25th, 2007 at 8:57am
tihtahpah I liked Patrick Teoh for his bluntness. Some callers do deserve it. LOL. Richard Ng’s lame…
Sha Long live MP3s!
JACQ Glad you agree with me.

despite the fact, once a upon a time I really wanted to be in the radio business… I think that malaysian radio industry needs to be demolished!!!! wtf is with all that stupid deal of djs being celebrity and all that shit… They are disgrace to radio… For God damn sake, they themselves say that listeners wants music and they contradict themselves… wtf? They fcking spoilt the whole radio thing for me

Lex I hate to say this, but radio stations in America (when I was there in 2000 and 2001) - is way better in terms of quality. More music, less nonsense. Adverts, though unavoidable, can be tolerated. Hitz FM SUCK!
January 25th, 2007 at 10:31am
din there used to be a Janet Ambrose who spoke really good english…there were some really good deejays last time…i wonder what happened? how has the quality been from the best deejays to some really noisy ones now. comparatively, deejays like Rickdees and Casey Kasem, they really make their show INFORMATIVE and yet entertaining. Who wants to hear what Jules did over the weekend, or what party JJ and Rudy’s been to, the thing is that their show is not thought-provoking at all! And it doesnt shock u either. There used to be a time when i would listen to what the deejays have to say, but nowadays, i just skip the yadayadaya-chatter part.

At first, those radios were good. Slowly, when they became more commercialized, shit went down the drain. Tsk tsk tsk .
January 25th, 2007 at 10:57am
i can’t stand ross
January 25th, 2007 at 11:45am
Surely but eventually, Red seems to stand out better than the rest. Guess AMP and national radios continue to talk talk talk….red offers juke box - 1 hour non interrupted music. Just my humble opinion
January 25th, 2007 at 12:17pm
tihtahpah DJs are no longer DJs anymore. Should label them as Radio Jesters (RJs). Rick Dees and Casey Kasem, now that’s quality! JJ, Rudy (radio DJ and not my best friend) and Jules are annoying! Shallow babble.
Chapree Da Grande Exactly. There was substance before Astro came into the picture with the overrated Hitz .
suanie Yes, he’s a pesky fella. Should call him GRoss.
Jeffrey Chew 1 hour non-interrupted music is still alive??? Goodness! I shall check out Red FM then, errr, what’s the frequency?
January 25th, 2007 at 12:49pm
I haven’t listened to radio stations in years. At least the ones here in Australia have decent stuff, but the commercialized stuff back in Malaysia drives me nuts.
Thank God for Pandora. You might not be able to run it in your car, but it’s worth listening whenever you’re next to the computer.

Easy for you to say. In Lahad Datu, on the edge of Malaysia, the only English FM station on air is Traxx FM. So whether I like it or not I will have to live with it. After all I can only listen to Bat Out Of Hell-3 on the CD player for so many times before going insane.
In November 2005 I won a call-in contest on Traxx FM for naming the longest song title. My winning entry was Bellamy Brothers’ “If I say you have a beautiful body won’t you hold it against me”. (Ok ok, I know the longest sone title ever is Pink Floyd’s and has something to do with furry creatures!) My entry whacked all the others who actually thought Meat Loaf’s “I’d anything for love but I won’t do that” and Bryan Adams’”Everything I do I do it for you” are long song titles.
Anyway, the prize is crap. A TM-Nut Hotspot starter kit worth RM28 and took them 8 months to send it to me.

Hate local radio stations ever since they’ve jumped the shark and play whatever’s ‘hot’ in the States, regardless their suckiness. Hitz.fm is a prime example.
I used to think Mix FM was okay but then they put the 3 gossipy DJs in the early morning show with the bullshat Pop gossips and stuff. Arghh. And needless to say, that guy with the pseudo-British accent and shoves all things ‘British’ down our throats everyday on the ride home from work drives me totally insane.
mental note : need to make Top 10 shit list of crappy radio commercials soon.
January 25th, 2007 at 3:03pm
Edrei Thanks for sharing the link. Shall check out Pandora when I get the chance.
Wombat ONLY English station? Well, you’re not missing anything at all. As for the longest title, I think that goes to the Rednex bunch, who did Cotton Eye Joe. The song - “The Sad But True Story Of Ray Mingus, The Lumberjack Of Bulk Rock City, And His Never Slacking Stribe In Exploiting The So Far Undiscovered Areas Of The Intention To Bodily Intercourse From The Opposite Species Of His Kind, During Intake Of All The Mental Condition That Could Be Derived From Fermentation”. LOL! But for the prize won….
Izad High five! Oh yes, those fake foreign accent RJs drives me nuts too. What’s with humans and their wannabe accent? I’ll be the first to read the shit list entry for sure!

“My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion (The Inner Life as Blazing Shield of Defiance and Optimism as Celestial Spear of Action)” - The Flaming Lips, I think this song is longer than the Bellamy Brother’s song…19 words!

tihtahpah Okay okay, you didn’t have to repeat yourself.

January 26th, 2007 at 6:50pm
Gallivanter : Well, that sure did thrashes Pink Floyd’s “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict”.

Malaysia radio station sucks. DJs thinks they are cool but they are actually make fools out of themselves. Too commercialized, it’s like 2 songs with 150 commercials intercepting in between? And if you touches political discussion, you end up like WaFM. I still can’t believe some people actually take radio listening like their life.
According to a statistical reading, myFM - chinese radio station is the hottest radio station in Malaysia with 200,000 listeners. Who can rescue them?
HitzFM is the worst among all. Pukey and JJ’s voice really gets on my nerves.
Dan, after your SE and Nokia thingie, at least we have something in common, LOL.
January 27th, 2007 at 5:16pm
Robert Howard Stern the shallow dude? I don’t think that bloke’s versatile.
Wombat It sure did! LOL
hongkiat I’m glad you feel the same way about radio. But that’s not gonna change the fact that SE sucks! Hahahahaha! N76 baby!

Stumbled here via Project Petaling Street and definitely had to leave an opinion about Malaysian radio stations.
When I was back last August and tuned into the local stations, it felt as though I’d been transported back to secondary school 95-99 with the amount of old pop tunes they played. Brought back some nice memories but don’t think I could put up with listening to them on a regular basis.
Internet radio is something to be thankful of so here’s a big *whew* of relief for the existence of BBC Radio 1 or all them random stations on http://www.shoutcast.com!
Oh… and I know this is the wrong place to be commenting on Muse but from what I’ve heard about their concerts, you’re going to have a fab time! Wish I could afford concert tickets instead of drinking my money away =/ Priorities and all that. Bah!

Really do agree with the many posts here that the Radio sucks all the way.The worst station is Traxx FM ( a crappy name to complement a crappy station )It’s predecessor (Radio 4)was much better at least with a good variety of programs and presenters. My favourite presenter was of course Joey with his cheery conversation and incredibly good sense of music.Joey made a comeback in the recent past on Traxx Fm and we thought there was hope yet for that station but alas,he was recently repaced by a DJ who calls himself ‘Radioman’ This bugger cannot coin two words in english together to save his life but yet they put him om air.So much for the management skills of the TraxxFM controller,Nurbaiyah Baharuddin who insists on having him as a replacement for the brilliant Joey. Sigh!when will they ever learn
September 12th, 2007 at 9:14am
ala.. give some credits to those working at radio station la.. sometimes their silliness can really put a smile on my face…
September 12th, 2007 at 10:23am
pris Really? Their silliness is really ridiculous - nothing funny at all.
