I can’t believe how would anyone on planet Earth be hooked on a featherbrained tv series like “HEROES”? I watched the first 11 episodes during the weekend, and it didn’t encourage me to continue further, like how PRISON BREAK did. So, if you haven’t watched HEROES, and heard about it’s hype, spare your boodles, don’t get caught wasting your moolah. Spent your dough wisely, go throw it down some well and hope for good luck.

Also, watched FLYBOYS - thought it was CRAP too (0/10). Gonna watch Babel, Venus, Pan’s Labyrinth and Alpha Dog in the next couple of days, let’s hope they’re worth my time.

  1. lol … i wouldn’t go as far as calling it rubbish, though i am still waiting to be wowed.

  2. I agree it’s nothing more than X-MEN wannabe. Bad copycat too, but it actually relates to the average joe more than the young teen comic readers. That’s its selling point.

Catering for different crowds, the casual/average man, it’s not in the same league as Marvel’s superheroes stuff which I personally prefer.

Spandex all the way for me!

  3. suanie But it is….there’s no appeal factor at all…totally unimaginative…wasted a few hours of my life, would rather watch a tv program on sewing…haha!

ShadowFox Agreed on the X-Men wannabe, though I think it’s more of a mutation of Mutant X…which is another lame series…

  4. Weh Heroes not bad la. I like it. I’m hooked!

  5. I liked Prison Break, and actually I find Heroes quite interesting. I suppose there is a big difference in watching an entire season in one go (like watching a really long movie) and watching it the old-fashined way - weekly episodes on the TV, a bit of suspens-o lah…

  6. Grey’s Anatomy & Ugly Betty for me. :P

  7. Oh and Babel rocks. One of the most moving, innovative, honest movies I have seen in a long time.

Speaking of honest movies, try and catch this Indonesian movie called Berbagi Suami - 3 tales about the damaging results of poligamy. It’s raw, honest and (there’s that word again) innovative. You’ll weep for Malaysia’s film standards when you see how the Indonesians really do it!

  8. what strikes me as odd is that you think its rubbish but still sat through 11 episodes of the series… strange love-hate attraction going on here?

  9. Che-Cheh Nope, it’s too unappealing to me. “Save the cheerleader save the world??” Come on… :-P The Japanese bloke, Hiro, was an interesting character though.

Keropok I watched PRISON BREAK at ONE GO. Bought the whole season, and willingly traded sleep for it. HEROES on the other hand, has a banal plot. What suspense? Indonesia has always been generally better than Malaysia in terms of entertainment, so I’m not surprised… :-)

Jemima As long as you stay away from HEROES and LOST. :-D

philters Well, I tend to finish what I start. I didn’t watch 11 episodes in one go, spread it out a couple of days. I was hoping for it to pick up…unfortunately, it didn’t. Blech.

  10. I like the storyline so far. Heroes can be comparable to X-men but you have to admit that x-men has pretty much thought of all sorts of mutant and powers that its hard to be original.

But I think Heroes has a darker undertones than x-men. I was really spooked seeing Claire on the operating table with her ribs showing. Urgh!

  11. Gallinvanter, you sounded like if the tv series don’t interest you, we the masses shouldn’t watch it too :)

  12. marina Actually, I think X-Men MOVIES suck too. :-P I watched that ribs-showing but, but felt disappointed with the overall pace of the show, it’s like they’re milking the audience…

Smokinlala I ain’t stopping you, watch what you wanna watch. I don’t like it, doesn’t mean you have to either. :-D

  13. Dude, you did NOT just diss Heroes. Grrrrr… And how could you watch Prison Break? That’s like a poor man’s Oz (much like Coldplay is the poor man’s Travis, but that’s for another debate LOL). HEROES ALL THE WAY!!! MUAHAHAHAHA ;)

And can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Pan’s. I personally loved it (but then again, I think Heroes is the best show on tv right now. Hahaha)

  14. btw, LOST is definitely going downhill (and this is coming from a huge fan. EX huge fan). They really shouldn’t have killed Ana Lucia Bitchface Cortez *tear*. I sat through a 15 episode Ugly Betty marathon, and it’s actually campishly good.

  15. LMAO…. *hails* Damn Daniel, seriously, great mine think alike uh? hahaha…. I honestly thought it WASNT that GREAT…. malaysians… aiiioohh… must make a big deal out of it. I prefer prison break… I’m looking forward for 300 as well…. Babel is alright though nothing so great…

  16. Izad Sorry man, but HEROES is the most overrated show on TV right now, and don’t get me started on LOST. Haha! I’ll watch Pan’s this weekend, and if it’s good, I’ll blog about it a little…

Lex Wasn’t that great is an understatement. It’s not great at all, too draggy. That girl in the mirror is the most annoying character, many of them are. That Japanese dude should ditch the series and come up with his own show - NIPPON QUANTUM LEAP. I’d watch it. :-D

  17. I have been waiting for Heroes since last year and when i watched the premier pilot episode i wasnt impressed either… I too think the only interesting character is the japanese dude Hiro… he is cool.. the story build up is horrible and the acting is bad especially the Indian dude haresh or suresh…. I think should have just concentrate or base or focus the story around the two Japanese dudes.

  18. Mo Yes, I heard about the hype too. And I agree with you, kill all characters and give the spotlight to Hiro. And sack the scriptwriter too!

  19. And another thing, I’ve got the perfect summation for HEROES, it’s BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL combined with MUTANT X. :-D

  20. Agreed. But still watching it. Love the Jap that goes Yata! Yata! That’s all.

  21. Robert He’s the BEST character of the show, still, script-wise, it’s lame… :-)

  22. You’re the first person I know, to critisize this show. I can’t be a judge of it coz I have not had a chance to watch it. But everyone else around me has been raving on and on about the show that it sure is a relief to hear someone go against it :)

  23. Sha It’s because there are many gullible folks out there who are caught up with the hype. It’s not the worst series I’ve seen, it’s just a letdown after all the ballyhoo. It’s like CSI, if you miss an episode, life goes on… :-P

  24. i like hiro, his english always make me laugh..
    esp, MR ISAAC ! :p

i wont said i hate this series.. just that it was not as great as prison break.. but.. cant compare much…

I also dun think it was as bad as u said.. :p

  25. Cely I’d rather watch Ally McBeal reruns than Heroes. :-P
