As Izad said, Bon Jovial. Yes, their songs are inspiring, the storytellers of rock that has intoxicated millions of souls around the world. The ONLY reason I would watch AMERICAN IDOL. I caught the 6pm show last night, wanted to watch the 11:30pm but the rain got in the way. I like how Jon inflects about each of the contestants.

Phil - Blaze of Glory
What a way to start the show. Though he lacks that rock-edge voice that Bon Jovi has, he made this song (the song that turned me into a Bon Jovi fan) his own - ala country version. It’s never easy covering a Bon Jovi song, because of the vocal variations - the highs and lows. 7/10
Jordin - Livin’ On A Prayer
She sucked. I didn’t like her interpretation of the song. It was poorly presented, she should’ve opted for a slower number like Bed of Roses. I’d vote her out based on this performance alone. 2/10
LaKisha - This Ain’t A Love Song
Pitchy at the beginning, but got kissed from Simon Cowell. I liked her bluesy rendition of this song. Like Jon Bon Jovi said, this song’s meant for a soulful singer, from their soul-filled THESE DAYS album. Decent effort. 7/10
Blake - You Give Love A Bad Name
When Jon said, Blake’s “rolling the dice” with this one, I dreaded the worst. A song which is engrafted into the hearts of rock lovers, was about to given a beat-box makeover. Love it or hate it, it was original. Kudos to him for taking a risk. Having said that, this is a singing contest, else I would’ve given him an 8. 6/10
Chris - Wanted Dead Or Alive
He doesn’t have what it takes. He lacks personality, and the way he answered that question before his performance, was a clear indication that this guy’s supposed to be in Akademi Fantasia. He failed to hit that blue note in the lyrical content, as Jon aptly puts it. 4/10
Melinda - Have A Nice Day
The title track of Bon Jovi’s last album. She did a Tina Turner, full of attitude and soul - “something something”. It certainly helped to get the gist of the song across. A commendable rendition, nothing to shout about. I’d say, keep her. 6/10
My vote - Chris and Jordin to go. Looking forward to tonight’s show, just so see which new song Bon Jovi would introduce, Make a Memory or Lost Highway. Personally, I wanna see them sing ANY OTHER DAY.
Once Bon Jovi week is over, I’m not gonna watch AMERICAN IDOL again, cause looking at these 6, not a single one stands out. Blech.

Oeh! I am doing the same thing in my blog, altho not really. But anyway, Chris and Phil should go!!! I like that Jordin girl, she just sucked last night but she didn’t all these while! I don’t really like the bald guy Phill (no offense to you Danny boy, hehe)… because he’s like so expressionless. Like come on… I want moreeee!
Ok. Enough. Go Melinda go!!

Faiez I don’t know about Jordin’s previous performances. All I can say is, that this season’s American Idol lacks star quality.
visithra Blake’s performance was truly original, but I feel he overdid it and should have focused on his voice, cause, afterall, this is a singing contest. But, Bon Jovi songs are harder to sing than most people give the band credit for, an awesome vocalist with an ability that most can’t match. And I agree, Rockstar, especially Rockstar INXS, have MUCH better singers than Idol.

on the beat box right? - yeah but he was smart enough to bring it back to the chorus
Rockstar INXS rocked - i was watching the reruns so many times n listening online - cant do so now - they removed those audios - anyone has a link to those songs?
i was hoping jordis unga would launch an album - but nothing seems to have come out from the top 4 - or ive missed it

visithra Oh yes, whatever happened to the amazing Jordis? Kinda disappointed that Marty Casey’s career didn’t pick off. Apart from that rocker’s voice, I personally thought that Lakisha and Melinda did well by infusing soul into the songs. After AI, I blasted the tune “This Ain’t a Love Song” again.

That’s the problem. You never watched it in full. I am putting all my dough on Melinda to win season 6. If America vote her off, then America can go stuff their heads into a toilet bowl for not recognizing talent even if a freight train hit them in the face. They voted Bo Bice to lose last season and prefered the panty flasher instead.
Melinda is sheer class week after week. Jordin only shone when she sang You Will Never Walk Alone. But then my 6 year old son can sing YWNWA and Simon Cowel will still say Interesting. It is the song itself that made the singer sounds good.
Lakisha? Man, she has a long way to go.

I really liked Phil’s performance even though it was nothing to shout about. His vocals are amazing. And despite not doin too great this week, i like Chris’ voice..especially during the Tony Bennet week when he altered the song a bit….fantastic!

Wombat Well, by the looks of things, luckily I didn’t follow Idol.
I ain’t gonna even bother cause I strongly believe none of them have star qualities.
sabrina I don’t like Chris, too nasally for my liking. And I didn’t like his dodgy stare during the performance either.
Mo Yes, he’s the worst. Why not make history and vote EVERYONE OFF American Idol, and give it to one of the singers of Rockstar INXS?

Melinda is really good! And she is sweet as well - not the diabetic sweet, but genuinely sweet and grounded… so, yeap… she has my vote.
I am thinking the final 2 will be her and Jordin…

I think this has been the most entertaining week of Idol this year. I absolutely love Blake’s rendition of You give love a bad name. I thought Phil and Jordin would go out. But looks like I was only half right.

papajoneh Well, you can still catch the video on Youtube.
This edition only confirms how hard it is to sing Bon Jovi songs.
