I love the beat…in a weird way, it keeps the original “Stand by Me” alive. I heard this on Sirius radio and just had to find out who this was. It always amazed me with what people come up with to make a “new” song out of. It’s really quite clever.

I don’t like Sean Kingston’s voice very much, but the lyrics are funny and I love the “Stand by Me” background music. That’s definitely the best thing about the song.

unlike everyone else i am absolutely appaled and disturbed by this song.i think that he has no talent whats so ever ,and anyone who would write a song about suicide is just cruel and heartless.think of all the families who have lost a loved one to suicide and to write a song about it he is horrible.he needs to take singing lessons because his voice is awful.i hope someday he realizes the wrong in what he wrote.

It is sad when a hip hop artist trying to make a quick buck ruins a classic song from the old days by adding lyrics to it that only contributes to the overly developed teen angst which is so annoyingly prevalent today. I would rather remember the original lyrics to Stand By Me than listen to this Kingston trash.
If I didn’t know better he is trying to depress a lot of baby-boomers and Generation X’ers while making a quick buck and laughing while the teens of today gobble it up and become even more emotionally fragile than they already are.
This song should be burned and forgotten.

I’m with the minority here that think this song blows. There is zero skill or talent in making this song. Sean didnt make the melody, the lyrics are terrible, and he has no singing ability. This is no better than Weird Al’s music. I actually give weird al more credit considering his sole purpose is to make fun of melodies being fully aware that he sucks. Sean Kingston actually thinks he’s good!!??
the original song hit #1 because of the catchy tune AND the awesome lyrics. This retarded version stole the catchy tune but dumped retarded lyrics over it. Why would anyone listen to this version over the old one? If you like “Suicidal” then listen to “stand by me”. After listening to the original, Kingston will make you want to puke!
