I just found out that Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway’s been given another bonus track for the US market, only if you buy the CD @ Target. This song should’ve been on the album. Period. They should’ve eliminated either “Summertime” or “I Love This Town”. I’ve always been a fan for storytelling songs, and this Bon Jovi track does just that - between a dad and his son.
Bon Jovi Bows At No. 1 In Europe
Billboard European Top 100 Albums
I’ve been hearing this song many times over the last few days, and I cried. 21 years after losing my dad and I’ve still not gotten over him. Dad, if you can read this, I miss you loads. I remember you telling me to keep watch over mom and brother when you’re gone (a week before you left us) - it still lingers in my mind - and yes, I’ve been doing just that. I see a lot of you in this song, so, this song’s for us.

Bon Jovi - Walk Like a Man
He said, Sit down son, we gotta talk
I said, it’s my life, I’m gonna do what I want
I’m not gonna crawl, Im gonna walk
Walk right out that door”
He said, I used to be a lot like you
Theres nothing you’ve done that I didn’t do
I laughed and said, Dad I’m bullet proof
We’ve been through this before
I couldn’t believe it there was a tear in my old man’s eye
When I was leaving he tried to say goodbye, he said
Stand tall when you stumble stay proud when you’re humbled
The lessons you learn wont be the ones you plan
Every step up that mountain will be more than worth counting
But when you walk through the valley may you walk like a man
I’ve seen a couple of miles on a gravel road
Been taught a couple things that I didn’t know
Now I even got a kid of my own starting to sound a lot like me
I learned a little thing called sacrifice
Given up on dreams lost a couple fights
All anybody wants is a better life and something to believe
I couldn’t believe it when the tears came to my eyes
It isn’t easy standing on the other side
I said Sit down son, we gotta talk
Hey it’s your life, you’re gonna do what you want
I wont say crawl before you walk
Cause I heard my old man in my mind saying
And when you go on without me walk like a man
Walk on

tincho sambora Yeah, the lyrics is very meaningful, to me at least. I have another song to add to my list of songs to remind me of my dad.
papajoneh Papajoneh, I’ll come with my Kublai Khan outfit. We will all walk like men that day.

Awesome song that brought tears to my eyes. Although I wouldn’t want any tracks eliminated, I wonder why this one wasn’t incuded in the originals. It tells a beautiful story with a catchy melody. What more can we ask? I assume this was written for Richie and his Dad, who Richie recently lost to lung cancer.

Bebereader Yeah, I can understand what Richie’s going through now. ANY loss of loved ones at ANY time is painful. Richie’s solo at the end was magnificent, his way of dedicating the song to his old man.
Faiez Thanks.

I’m listening to it now. It’s a sure tearjerker; Jon saying “Walk on” at the end. Hope Richie will be strong enough to sing the whole song one day.

Yvy That special edition thing is simply a marketing ploy. I can’t wait for the “normal” album to be released soon.

Really great song…I’ll probably spend the extra money at Target…keep one CD at home, one in the truck…with all the songs downloaded to the iPod of course.
Thanks for sharing!

today i was listening “Never say goodbye´´,and i hear the word SEAT…
“Remember when we lost the keys
And you lost more than that in my back SEAT baby´´
And then,i was thinking in “SEAT next to you´´… And comparing,i could see the difference, the mature that lost highways lyrics have…
In those days, they said seat, and most of the times, they were talking about sex (when they used to be young)…
And now, seat, has another meaning, for example like ik seat next to you… Richie saying that to his father…
And bonjo,i like your story songs… =P
Not so much like your spanish songs xD

Argh man, they should not have eliminated any tracks .. Neway, I just bought the record last week .. yeah they’ve always been a great, wonderful story teller. Their songs really touched my heart .. my life ..
Heheh yeah I remember an interview I watched in YouTube .. Jon said that how can he be a strict father, his kids are gonna look at him and say “Heh, you’re kidding right?” .. Hahah so cute ..

Hey!
You should check out Walk Like A Man by Bruce Springsteen. It’s on the 1987 Tunnel of Love album.
Hope you like it.

How this song doesn’t feautre on every single version of LH is beyond me…
This song is UNBELIEVABLE, one of the best songs they’ve recorded in years. I would’ve thought with everything Richie’s gone through and all the talk of personal turmoil being on the album that this song would be on LH for sure. I Can only hope it is later re-released - alot of potential. And WHAT GUITAR PLAYING!!

Grrrrr….here in Greece it was also the standard 12-song album….I found out here there were more songs…I wish I could hear the song, the lyrics are very good, they touch your heart(like so many Bon Jovi lyrics)…Is it written by Richie?Cause I thought that Whole lot of leaving was also written by Richie but it isn’t…even though at an interview after a show(after the rehad visit and all the gossip that brought with it) when they asked Jon and him about this song,Richie said with a smile:”Yup,that’s all about me”…you gotta love a man with a broken heart who isn’t afraid to admit it!!

tincho sambora Yeah, “Lost Highway” next single - gonna be a massive flop. They should’ve gone with “Any Other Day”, “Whole Lot of Leaving” or “The Last Night”. Disappointing!
