I’m considering getting this Bon Jovi album now…been reading nothing but good reviews on your site.

hmmm.. although still kinda nice to the ear, it doesnt really sound like Bon Jovi’s tunes so much does it (think slippery when wet days)

Is it just me or they’re starting to get a lil country or Matchbox 20 ish? Nothing wrong with either one of those but still!!!

Giddy Tiger Well, the album’s been getting good response from fans worldwide, if you like contemporary songs, this album’s recommended.

Prianna I understand – gone are the Slippery When Wet Days. They acclimatizing to the current music scene without leaving their roots. Not many bands can do that. ;-) And yes, this new album, is a country-influenced record – their first attempt after “WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T GO HOME” dominated the country scene. ;-)

    Nice! I’ll look into it!

PS: I still miss their Blaze of Glory time. I like ALL of their song in that album. (Eh, was the album titled Blaze of Glory?) :P

cindy Yes, it was called Blaze of Glory. You loved the album huh? It’s a crazy album in terms of Jon’s vocal range. ;-)

Don’t like this one sorry. Bon Jovi was never my favourite, but they did have some kick-ass tunes. Their latest stuff reminds me why I didn’t like them.

I think this going to be the best album yet!
    CHANGE is good…

Keropok Well, they can’t please anyone. But it doesn’t matter whether you like ‘em or not. Just like how I find Pink Floyd nauseating. We each have our own taste. ;-)

bhazy I’ve already reviewed the album, and will post it on Friday. Gave it a 7.5/10. KEEP THE FAITH & THESE DAYS will always remain my favorite 2 albums. ;-)

oh man… a step closer to heaven when listening this song. Man, its about time i go buying all the albums. So many to choose from… if i have the cash for the only one… which one would u recommend me Gall? :)

papajoneh Yikes! I don’t know where to start, each album has its own theme. I’d suggest you start collecting them all. LOL. Okay, here goes…

    SLIPPERY WHEN WET is pop-/rock
    NEW JERSEY is hard rock
BLAZE OF GLORY is a western-inspired masterpiece
KEEP THE FAITH is the heaviest album
    THESE DAYS is the darkest
    DESTINATION ANYWHERE is adult-alternative
CRUSH is a mixture of everything
BOUNCE is extremely underrated, though overproduced
HAVE A NICE DAY is noisy and brash
LOST HIGHWAY is the most contemporary

Crush – a mixture of everything. I’ve to agree with this.

papajoneh LOL. You can start by collecting the newer ones first. But yeah, you’ll need to own them all, except for their first 2 albums, BON JOVI & 7800 FAHRENHEIT. :-)

kawi11 YES! It’s gonna be really soon! :-)

I just started my Bon Jovi CD collection…all original copies, I might add! So let’s see, so far I have Crush, Crossroads, Slippery When Wet, Have A Nice Day and New Jersey. I’m determined to get all of them since I’m a new-ish fan and missed out on so many years of great music. I adore their new sound on “Lost Highway” and commend them for staying fresh!

Well here I am again! :-D The CD hasn’t dropped yet in the U.S. so I’ve been relying on clips to hear bits and pieces of the album. Thanks, Gallivanter! The chorus on “One Step Closer” is beautiful, lyrically and melodically.
    “Now I’m one step closer
With my arms open wide here
    I’m one step closer
and I’m willing to try this time”
They’re typical Bon Jovi lyrics that we all can relate to, just by being human. You can’t help loving this band.

I really enjoyed listening to this song, it’s one of those great ones that you just have to lean back, close your eyes and listen to the message. Very inspiring. I think Bon Jovi is a very talented artist to leave his extremely popular rock style, and go into a country vibe, that actually, in my oppinion, sounds better than his rock in many ways. He is an idol and inspiration to many people.

    Bebereader :-D

Tyson S I agree. Inspirational stuff, that strikes a chord in your heart. :-)

  26. [...] One Step Closer Another favorite of mine, love the chorus! It’s one of those song that’ll warm up to you after a few times. Richie’s back with yet another solo! Woohoo! It kinda reminds me of Ronan Keating’s schmaltzy song a couple of years ago, but of course, Bon Jovi does it better! Gratifying lyrics, and a marvelous bridge. 9/10 [...]

Let me first say that I’m in love with “Lost Highway”. It’s rare that I like every single track on a CD but that’s the case here. The whole album has an uplifting feel. Heck, you can’t help liking it. Yet I keep hearing that diehard BJ fans are criticizing the album, saying that it’s too country. The songs are about the same things they always were…faith, working class values, hope and love, minus the heavy metal sound. It’s nice to see that these guys have evolved with the changing times.

    Jun 23rd, 2007

Bebereader Yes, this album highlights Bon Jovi’s strong points – as you said, faith, working class, hope and love. :-)
