It lifted off with full of promise - 17 tracks altogether, with Shaggy’s identifiable sub-baritone voice cocooning the songs. I handpicked 6 tracks that I liked at once , but, after listening to it a few times, I ended up with only 2 highly infectious tracks - “Bonafide Girl” featuring Rik Rok & Tony Gold, and the title track, “Intoxication”.
The first single is the collaborated effort with Akon, entitled, “What’s Love”. But the chorus is a one-liner that repeats itself too much that you feel like strangling Akon.
Shaggy - Intoxication
I ain’t never gonna drink again
Before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I had sex with my woman’s best friend again
I can’t blame intoxication
Ain’t never gonna drink again
Before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I had sex with a girl I considered a friend
I can’t blame intoxication

Marsha’s version:-
I ain’t never gonna drink again
Before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I slept under a car and thought it was my bed
can’t blame intoxication
I ain’t never gonna drink again
Before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I forgot the lyrics of the song I was singing and went off-key
Dumb Intoxication

Was waiting for what seems like forever Shaggy to release another album; and I’m NOT disappointed. Well done Shaggy! This why you are my favorite Dancehall artist?.

AL It’s a good album though most of the songs are strangely similar.
Baron Zauny It’s certainly a step up from his last album.
