Gosh, I haven’t even reached the second verse, I already have tears in my eyes. Beautiful. I love country songs too.

When i was in UK I lived with a couple – both were in the army. And since Iraq, both (Phil and Cath) are registered for the civillian army. But Cath had her
knee replaced, so she is automatically taken out of the list.

Remembrance Sunday in the UK is a day to remember all the soldiers who have died in the war… and hate to say this, but songs like this will never have a fraction of a meaing to us as it does to men and women who lived it and made it alive, but saw many who didn’t. Both couple showed me great love while I was there, but the sadness that filled the house that day when memories came flooding back was overwhelming.

Recently, I had a chance to live a little of that because Phil was sent to Basra as a civilian soldier and we all know about the recent bombing…. mails were not replied and there was no way we could tell if he made it or not…

But thank God… he did. Cath called me to tell me he was coming home, but the minute I heard his voice on the phone, I cannot put into words the hatred I have for those who think war is an answer and the love I have for 2 ppl who innocently opened their door for a stranger to feel at home for 4 months.
