Pick Your Battles at Work

Humans. We always continue to want to fight for every idea. Wait, let me re-word - MOST humans. Before you throw the gauntlet, think about the idea - will it TRULY make the company more successful? Does it affect or live up to the goals? Will you be supported by influential colleagues with this idea? Will it make your superior look bad?

Look at the stakes involved and decide whether it’s worth it, you need to pick your battles wisely. Ask for guidance from another colleague who managed to get his/her idea implemented.

i certainly agree with u. currently i got this really annoying colleague who seems to like to boss people around but then i choose to just make do and reject work from her when i can because at the end of the day i’m making more than her anyways. but if she steps over the line, then i’ll give a piece of my mind to her

tihtahpah Well, giving her a piece of your mind isn’t going to solve anything really. No matter how much you can’t get along, you’re gonna be seeing her face for some time. So, might as well work things out.

been out of the workforce for so long, let me think a bit and try to recall ok?

ooohhhhh…..actually, it depends lah. sometimes, standing your ground is best when it comes to bossy people. unless they are your boss, of course. but if not, then we have to have our principle otherwise, we will get pushed around.

of course, giving that person a piece of his or her mind comes as a last resort. first, try to solve the prob….if the fella lan-si somemore, give it to her lah. some people really got metal head wan, rite or not?

but never saying anything makes me a pushover, she’ll keep throwing her work to me, i’ve been quite nice actually, i just reject the work and try to remain civil with her.

marsha Of course one must stand one’s ground, but work’s all about being flexible. Agreed - first try to solve the problem, then SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
