Is it Normal to Worry?

YES. Worrying – it is part of life. It makes us pay close attention to important events. Unfortunately, some of us take worry to a worrying level – so intense that it affects daily routines and your focus especially at work or sleep.
Worry can either motivate or de-motivate you. If it motivates you, then it’s fine, but if it doesn’t, and you have trouble pinpoint the cause and it makes you feel very anxious, then it’s time to help yourself.
Change how you think about your problems and what you do with them. Do you exaggerate your problem that you start thinking about unlikely outcomes? Are you expecting the worst? Try to list down what your worries are, start to monitor your worry patterns and then look at the list from a positive angle. Instead of worst-case scenario, deploy positive thoughts.
It’s a matter of taking control of your worry, and also most importantly to learn what is BEYOND your control. You might be overwhelmed with your list of worries, but look at it, I’m sure there are problems WITHIN your control that you can solve.
Relaxation helps too, it works for me – my form of relaxation comes in the form of quick getaways every 3 months or so to keep me fresh and to look at life with a positive outlook.
So, like McFerrin preached, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
