Ideas come and go. Forget about trying to stick to a schedule as it will end up worrying you in the end. If you run out of ideas, the internet provides a great resource for you to draw inspiration from. Next thing you do, you have a backlog of potential post. Whenever you get a topic idea, always write it down.

Don’t be worried about the number of posts. Generally, the more you post the more popular you may be. However, it is not a rule of thumb, as it’s more of a case of quality vs quantity. Unfortunately, a number of bloggers these days resort to sponsored posts, although they TRY to be as personal as possible, it almost always backfires. I’ve removed a number of blogs off my google reader simply because of it.

Are you afraid of getting personal on your blog, especially if its controversial? Well, life is all about controversies. No one wants to read boring posts - what you bought today, what you wore to work today. Stop playing safe and throw caution to the wind. Of course, don’t go to the extreme.

Promote your blog to any social bookmarking websites. It’s all about community. Commenting on other blogs is a big plus although ever since I started my new career in December 2007, I have stopped visiting blogs. I just don’t have the time, but thank God there’s Google Reader.

Ultimately, blogging is all about having fun. If you notice that you start to have restless nights by it, then by all means, stop.

  2. The moment you worry about a hobby, it stops being a hobby. The fact that people try too hard for something that was always meant to be a tool for communication. Even if you make money from it, you create it from the way you communicate yourself to people. Not from the actual way you make money itself.

A lot of people have lost sight of that. It just ruins it for the rest of us. Of course there are hidden gems out there. You just need to take a step back and look at them.

  3. Restless night due to blogging? Got plenty of ‘em. I guess you can’t help it when you found that there’s fun in those sleepless nights. Most of the times, at least. XD
