Sleep is not just rest, you need a minimum of 7 hours, there’s no 2 ways about it. Losing an hour of sleep is a BIG DEAL. If you lose an hour or so of sleep every night, it will build over time and will eventually affect your hormones and your health.
And NO, your body does not acclimatize to sleep times easily. Stick with the same sleep times. If you’re constantly working night shifts, you should quit your job and find a proper day job, because it will come back to haunt you in your older years.
Please, just because age has caught up with you, that doesn’t mean you need less sleep. You may not sleep as sound as you used to, that doesn’t mean your body is refreshed nevertheless, stick with you regular sleeping hours.
Of course, don’t oversleep! Because it can cause fatigue, just like lack of sleep. Sleeping longer during weekends does help you to catch up on your sleep debt over the week, but remember, it will affect your body come Monday. The key is to be consistent everyday.
Quick naps – I never believed in them, hence it is difficult to me to catch a quick nap during the day. However, whenever I did, especially less than an hour, helps me re-generate. But, please be warned that you shouldn’t sleep more than an hour during the day and especially after 4pm.
I snore when I’m really really tired. However, if you find yourself snoring on a regular basis, it’s best that you check with your doctor, or get one of those nasal thingy at the local pharmacy.
