It’s common belief, a de-facto of sorts, that we believe that egg white are healthier for us than a whole egg. How true is that? Is it a myth?
I did some research and it’s confirmed that we have been misinformed! In fact, to my surprise, the egg yolk is actually the healthiest part! Goodness - there’s so much nutrient in egg yolk that I can’t believe I usually separate the egg white (especially hard boiled or fried).
The nutrients in the egg white are pittance compared to the yolk, which actually has kickass proteins for your body. Here’s an excerpt of what I’ve read -
The egg yolks contain more than 90% of the phosphorus, calcium, zinc, iron, thiamin, B6, B12, folate, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the egg yolks contain the entire amount of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as all of the essential fatty acids (EFAs).
Good golly miss molly! Does this mean I can start consuming eggs without needing to separate the yolk from the white? I’m still not convinced.

How many of you tend to separate the white from the yolks like me?

I think people say the yolk’s unhealthy due to the high cholesterol level. I would say for a normal person who exercises regularly, 2 eggs (both white and yolk) can be easily consumed daily without any danger to health.

Gannu I read somewhere before that an adult cannot consume more than 5 eggs per week. However, with the recent availability of cholesterol free eggs, it’s no longer an issue.
Wannabe Economist Well, I hate yolks, but the only time I eat it is when I’m having it sunny side up with rice, and then watching the yolk flow. I know - I gotta see a doctor. LOL.
ulai Sure, hope to see you there!
