It was a track written by Jon & Richie in 1988 for the NEW JERSEY album, and it tells a story of boys having fun in the summer. A great tune to blast in your car when you go on a long-distance travel.
Bon Jovi - 99 in The Shade
I feel I’m burning up with fever
But the fire’s feeling really good tonight
And it’s alright
I’m gonna see Sahara Jack and Suntan Sally
Somebody tells me even Tommy’s coming down tonight
If Gina says it’s alright
I’m gonna see those senoritas
Lying under the sun
They’ll be greasing it up with their stereos on
You know I want to be their blanket
just to tell every girl
Hey, baby… You’re the one…
Oh tell the boys I’m on my way
I got the radio blasting in my old man’s Chevrolet
I got a party in my pocket cause
you know I just got paid
And I’m feeling fine, it’s 99 in the shade
I’m feeling fine, it’s 99 in the shade
When the sun goes down that’s when the street heats up
Senorita Margarita fills your empty cup tonight -
She make you feel so right
A good time here don’t cost much money
Just a little sweet talking and a pretty native honey
And you’re set for life
Or one hell of a night
I’m gonna see those sons of beaches
Out there living it with up the surf
And the sand,
Man that life ain’t so tough
So get me in the action so I can tell
Every girl she’s the one
Oh tell the boys I’m on my way
I got the radio blasting in my old man’s Chevrolet
I got a party in my pocket cause
you know I just got paid
And I’m feeling fine, it’s 99 in the shade
I’m feeling fine, it’s 99 in the shade

Ah…. off the VERY FIRST CD I ever bought, when I didnt even have a CD player then. Classic album, every single song there was good.
Around the same time, there was a serious glut of incredible albums just released, we all had problems keeping up: U2’s Rattle and Hum, Metallica’s ….And Justice For All, and the previous year’s Guns N Roses’ Appetite For Destruction, Def Leppard’s Hysteria and Motley Crue’s Girls Girls Girls. Then the next year, White Lion’s Big Game and Motley Crue’s Dr Feelgood. What a decade that was

ben Wow, your first CD? I think my first CD was Bon Jovi’s Crossroads. I had truckloads of cassettes before that. I’m not a fan of those Metallica’s and U2’s albums that you quoted, but GNR, Def Leppard and White Lion’s albums were indeed classics.
