Expatriates’ Nonexistent Expectation on Food

I notice that whites, foreigners, expats are in love with the most flavourless of Malaysian food. It’s comical to see these foreigners give kudoses on food that is mediocre, which they believe it is a blessing to their tastebuds.
To hear them say it’s the best savouring food they ever had is just sheer ignorance. It’s simply because these whities are contented within their taste buds confinement, and unlike Asians, do not vagabond off in search for the delicious dishes.
If you happen to tell them that there’s better versions of that dish out there, they swing to full defensive mode, “You Asians are all the same when it comes to food – difficult to please.” To an extent, he’s right, because I know for a FACT, that we Asians have way better tastebuds than these Yankee Queen-Loving Doodahs from Europe and America will ever do.
To these outlanders, if you can travel continents to Asia in hunt for life’s golden ticket, then I’m sure you can haul your pale arses across Asia for the best dishes. You’d be amazed.

they’re just ‘trying’ to be nice. I don’t even think they really like the food, seriously. Unless they eat ‘durian’ without complaining that is ^^

Okay, invitation to comment.
I really value good Asian food – and that as a white guy! But sometimes I just have the impression that you just sit there and snort “What crappy food!” – during your daily lunch break! Of course there is better food around, but if you have it everyday, you won’t appreciate it anymore.
Btw, my mom cooks the best lentil soup

Vic – As expected. I was waiting for your comment. Defensive as usual. Well, the food is crappy, is a statement directed at you guys because it irks me when you say “this is the best food I’ve ever tasted.” I know that ignorance is bliss but come on, you can do better!

OMG, that is so true. Hahaha! Well, actually, anything that has taste is good because their food is so bland. That is also why my bf thought I’m the best cook ever hahaha, because whatever I cook (with spices and curry and sambal and cili) is definitely has more taste than what he used to

what’s worse is those Asians who worships the bland gwailo food. Like Foie Gras…do they honestly think it’s good or it’s good because gwailos say so?

tihtahpah – Asians worship bland white men food? Yuck. I mean, I can live on bland food for a day or so, but then, I need my rice fix. And no, I don’t have that mp3 because I’m not really a fan of it. It’s OK listening to it for the first time, but when the second time comes around, I fall asleep. LOL.
