Working after Retirement

“No one lays on his deathbed wishing he had spent more time at the office.”
How true is that quotation? Once you have retired, do you forget about work totally? Does the body and mind permit you to do that?
I do not believe so as most retirees I know generally miss the working life in and are incessantly finding work to keep themselves occupied as they live through their golden years. It helps keep them mentally and physically active by staying connected to people.
If you’re retired, unless you can spend your time doing something worthful and challenging to the mind (at least) that requires you to think, you will get bored with life.
I feel really sorry for senior citizens especially those who age alone in nursing homes waiting for their time to depart the earth. It is really dispiriting to think that nobody cares for them particularly if they are all alone in this world.
Have you thought about what you intend to do once you have retired? Don’t dilly dally as the time will be upon you before you know it.

Having something to do after retirement would be nice, but a full time job – no way, Jose!
You should ask this questions to Japs, though… the few I know will work until they literally drop!

I know I would want to still do something after I retire. I hate to sit around and be bored out of my mind and end up being a senile old man.

good reminder, gosh, i hope i can do something when i retire, i too hate sitting around doing nothing, but let’s hope when that day comes, the internet connection in Malaysia is really fast, so i won’t get bored …

interesting. I can’t wait for my retirement day. Now i’m
just stressed with work. But maybe when i finally retire
i would miss working but that does not mean i want to do
it all again. Just appreaciating the good old days.
I hope to have enough money to travel and get to know the
world instead.

yeah ….u r right. I remember when I was out of job many years ago for 4 months, that period is really terrible! More so, for retirees… maybe it’s good to involved in some charity work or part time.

claire bennet – Probably.
Alv – Yeah, but remember always try to find a balance. It’s important before time runs out!
TerraShield – The Japs are workaholics – they’re so anal that the current generation of young ones are mentally insane!
Nick Phillips – Ya man, gardening?
gregchai – The internet connection should be fast once the 4 wimax services are up. Unfortunately, we’re still light years away from Korea!
tiee – Yeah, traveling is nice. Better start saving moolah now!
chrisau – Yeah, me being on a one month medical leave was really BORING! I mean you enjoy the first week or so, and then you get bored and end up spending MORE money!
