Paradiso Girls feat Lil Jon – Patron Tequila 8/10
Keri Hilson’s loss will certainly be Paradiso Girls’ gain. I previously blogged about Keri Hilson’s duet with Lil Jon on the same song albeit a different song title – “Hey Girl”. I still can’t get over the “cultural” beat of the song – enjoy the last couple of seconds where only the beat the carries the track.
Paula DeAnda – Roll the Credits 6/10
It may not be as catchy as her 2007 called “Easy”, but overall, it is a better tune as it showcases her contemporary side of Paula DeAnda. She is currently working on her next album, due to be released in the later parts of 2009. This song is apparently the official first single. Not bad. You will grow to like it.
Colby O’Donis – Ooh Aah 7/10
He became famous thanks to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” where he was featured in the track. He also appeared in Akon’s “Beautiful” with Kardinal Offishall. It’s a pretty sexy track, though I’m not too fond when he sings “Ooh Aah” too many times. It’s a nice addition to your list if you’re an R&B fan.
Elephant Man – Hey Nikki 7/10
This song heavily samples Toni Basil’s hit, “Hey Mickey”. Some of you might scream profanities for its sacrilegious act of taking what you deemed as a classic bubblegum pop into a reggae version sung by a dude named Elephant Man who at times sound like he has a stick shoved up his arse.
Adam Lambert – Mad World 9/10
Freaking AWESOME stuff once again by Adam Lambert. He is already a star and is certainly ready to cut a new album which if he stays true to his style of singing, should be received VERY WELL by music fans worldwide.
Bunga Citra Lestari – Hanya Untukmu 6/10
OK, so it’s not gonna jump out and grip your soul. However, to some people who are easily pleased, you’d might think that this tune is the best thing that has ever happened to you. I’m not overly excited as I feel it lacks originality to a certain extent.
Rl (Of Next) – If You Leave Me Now 7/10
You will hear familiarity when you listen to this tune as Chicago’s “If You Leave Me Now” is sampled heavily in the tune. I think the only difference is some minor changes in the lyrics as well as the melody. It is actually a nice complement to the original and the musical arrangement is really pleasing to the ears.
Akasha – Irish Joget 7/10
It’s very rare that I enjoy listening to World Music bands, usually they’re freaking boring and obviously, instrumental music sounds MUCH better live as the studio recording do not give it justice. This Malaysian based band has infused soul, latin, blues, javanese, irish riverdance, joget – you name it. Of the songs on their debut album, this is the most standout tune.
Akon ft Play N Skillz – Angel Eyes 7/10
This tune samples Kim Carnes’ “Betty Davis Eyes” rather well by infusing Akon’s trademark singing and a pretty good hook. It’s not as catchy as I would like it to be, but it’s alright enough to earn additional space on library of music collection.
Ciara – G is For Girl 9/10
Arguably, this could be Ciara’s best work to date and her album will be out in May. Already released tracks include “Never Ever” and “Love Sex Magic” but I’m expecting this track to boost her stardom.
Rob Thomas – Her Diamonds 7/10
“Lonely No More” was arguably his best effort to date but my personal favorite is “When the Heartache Ends”. While this tune will not be able to overthrow the impression of those songs, it should do fairly well, with its safe approach.
Danny Gokey – Endless Love 8/10
Awesome cover version and I would like to add, it’s arguably better than Lionel Richie’s original tune. Unfortunately, where it lacks is the voice of a female to make this a smashing duet. Brilliant singing by Danny Gokey, he doesn’t scream like he does on the American Idol stage.
Anoop Desai – (Everything I Do) I Do It for You 8/10
A great rendition of that Bryan Adams’ hit in the early 90s for the soundtrack to The Prince of Thieves. Anoop Desai successfully stamps his signature on the tune and certainly made it his own. Bryan Adams himself would’ve been proud.
Backstreet Boys – Fallen Angel 7/10
The has-beens of boyband music are in studios right now to record their latest effort. A couple of tracks leaked on the net, and of all 4 of it, this is the best. Having said that, there’s nothing original about it. Come on, it’s the Backstreet Boys – what do you expect?
Kris Allen – She Works Hard for the Money 8/10
I hate this dude’s guts, just like how I hate Matt Giraud. Both are typical yankee doodahs that would do well in America. Genres like this shouldn’t even exist – cue the bloody annoying Jason Mraz. Having said that, I think that this is his best effort to date.
Adam Lambert – If I Can’t Have You 7/10
American Idol should just don’t bother with the elimination round and hand the title over to Adam Lambert. He is pure class and I’m really looking forward to his album in the future. This is another good performance by him, though I didn’t like the arrangement of the tune especially the chorus, because that Bee Gees’ original tune was immaculate.

Interesting. I actually feel the same way about Kris and Matt, haha! Although they’ve grown on me a bit, I’ve always thought they were forgettable.
I think Adam is excellent and his range is amazing, but Gokey’s voice just does it for me. And he’s not too hard on the eyes neither
Rob Thomas? Wow it’s been a while. My heart broke a little when he went solo because I still prefer Rob during his Matchbox days. I’m still recovering from seeing him TRYING to dance in Lonely No More…

Melissa – I actually Rob Thomas solo, minus the dancing. I thought his days at Matchbox 20 were fake. This is the real him.
Rozella – Oh yes, her new album’s good.
