I saw their pics in the paper the other day. I shall refrain from commenting on anyone either, but there are certainly better looking women out there on the streets… probably they just don’t fulfill the height requirements.

LOL! I don’t really know what to comment. But I guess it helps if Malaysia has some kind of academy for aspiring beauty queens just like the Venezuelans.

Don’t we have any better women in this country?

edna – I think the good ones are maybe too “egoistic” to join, worried that they might be red-faced should they lose. My only logical explanation as ugly ones have nothing to lose.

    yapthomas – :-D

ben – You know her personally, tell her I said good luck.

wel – Yeah, more like Something is Missing in Malaysia.

    tekkaus – :-D

Daniel Chiam – Tell me about it.

terrashield – Well, you’d be surprised with some of the heights of this contestants. Entries could be on the basis of nepotism.

earthy emily – I don’t think we need them, I think we have enough to compete against the best of this world, well, at least top 50! :-P

Nick Phillips – We do. If these were our markers for women, I think most of us men would either leave the country or be in touch with our feminine side! :-D

edna – Check out the heights of some of them, you’d be surprised. Unless your contenders are midgets? :-P

xin – Maybe too busy shopping? :-P

Owhhhh thank you so very much Daniel for taking the liberty to say out your point of views. The girls you see here, might be ordinary but full of hopes and dreams in order to achieve something huge for life and success. Pageants might look easy and simple for viewers but you should comeby and meet us someday. Come and see for yourself the struggle and hardship we put in and then comment.

    You ain’t Mr West. :)

And one more thing. I see you like the top two girls who’s outfits are not like the usual, the studio and black attire. Well, for your info, they didn’t show up for the necessary studio shots. Prolly because they’re from Sabah. But clearly it was just the outfit and the photography that impressed you. But there was no necessary to be calling the girls GRO or what so ever. You surely sound well like a racist. Anyways, there’s still 2 weeks left for the finals. I’ll keep you posted! God bless.

    ;)

DalvinParsh – Now you’re being ultra defensive. Unfortunately, it’s a blunt truth, or you want the Paula Abdul version instead? LOL! You’re answer sounds like it’s taken out of some textbook, totally unoriginal. And please read more, I don’t think you know the definition of racist. ;-)

emelda – They are probably too egoistic to compete worried that they might not be able to take a defeat on the chin?

cyril – Not really that bad, doesn’t mean that they’re Miss World material. They’re NOT. :-)

irfan – Well, let’s see how she fairs.

    Dear Dalvil Parsh,

I have contended in pageants before, with Marie Bibiana Baxter who is the current Miss Sabah. Don’t get me wrong, it was a twin pageant. It is in a way hard, but nothing really that needs brains, it’s all dedication.

Honestly, Malaysia does have some beautiful women. Malays are beautiful. But due to the fact that the government decided to input Syariah Law into the Malaysian system made it impossible for them to shine. Chinese and Indian girls are beautiful as well, look at Deborah Henry, she’s beautiful.

There are beautiful finalists from the West Malaysian side of the pageant of course and well, most of them are not up to par. The competition seems obvious, I’m not saying that the Sabahans are the best, but one or two of them are the one who stands out.

And in terms of being more Malaysian, the Sabahans are the only two girls there who hold the Bumiputra status, natives, real malaysians who are allowed to join. I’m biased for supporting them of course but there are beauties like Felixia Yeap who is gorgeous! Remember the first Miss Malaysia to make it to the top 10 of Miss World is Sabahan, Muslim, and a Bajau Decent.

And, the two Sabahan contestants are already winners in their own right :) go to http://www.misssabahworld.com.my to see the finalist.

Or you can simply check out my website, http://www.jeffreytanggau.blogspot.com to see other pictures of the finalists from Miss Sabah.

Nonetheless, there are beautiful girls from the West Malaysian side as well.

    Cheers:)

Oh, and i’ve received negative comments saying that I won a pageant before because i was chinese and that the judges are biased:)

Well, i’m Bumiputra, and the reason why the chances of judges being chinese is much higher is because they are more established:)

It is unfair in a sense but in Malaysia, nothing is :)

  21. Gallivanter

    Sep 23rd, 2009

Jeffrey James – You won a pageant before? Errr. I shall not probe further. And the Chinese judges, how are they established again, in the sense of home-sexuality? :-D

  22. Jeffrey James

    Sep 24th, 2009

Because Chinese Judges mostly sponsor Events, Look at Miss Malaysia, one of their sponsors are the Sunway Group.

Estee Lauder’s model search, well, the judges were mainly chinese, Amber Chia, Sonny Sun, the sony guy etc, Sonny Sun and the Sony dude were one of the main sponsors. So is Andrew from Andrew’s models :)

Look at the companies sponsoring, you don’t see political parties like Umno joining, rarely they get people like Farah Khan, but rarely:)

Oh noooo… what happend to Miss Malaysia/World Pageant this year????? On this way we cannt put malaysia again on the map in Miss World Pageant… they nice but not beauty pageant type.. they dont have good package and not Miss World material/type…. i always follow beauty pageant update and news especially Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth.. for me organize of miss malaysia/world send a good delegate on 2007(Deborah Henry).. on 2008(Soo Vincci) for me ok too, because she is intelegent and she got a good confident level that why she selected top model and miss talent in miss world 2008.. this year finalist miss malaysia/world 2009, they dont have the x-factor and goood confident level… by the way.. i saw the good potential among them but average level for beauty pageant is
Thanuja, Stephanie chua, Marie bibiana, Christy Yeoh and Crystel Eve… they need to work hard on their presentation… i hope i can see a good competitor finalist miss malaysia/world like year 2007 miss malaysia/world beauty pageant on next year… also hope can see next year a good charisma miss malaysia similar like Deborah Henry, Lina Teoh and Ariana teoh.. Peace to all “Salam Satu Malaysia”..

i thnk they are okie…tho they’re kinda bad shape n we’ve seen bettr chicks in the malls but these gals represent malaysia, thy dun need to b the best of the best to represent the nation..evryone has flaws eithr neck face legs n god knws wat else…venezualens are pretty heart-throbbin’ bt thy aso go under the knifes to enhance thmselves…a few here wud b my pick..bt seriously..there need to b more non-oriental judges…if u knw wat i mean, if u dont just see how horrible sum contestants who gt picked, lol!

i agree…it is never fair..not only that, sometimes certain organiser who hold the franchise for the year, are modeling agencies, and they send their own agency girls to jon and sort of plot for them to win…i was in miss msia earth before, wic it was organised by a modeling agency who hold thye franchise for that year, not to say it was unfair or anything but the winner cant even speak good english, and wasnt educated..ok mayb education wasnt the most important thing, but she dun even socialise with other girls, and dun even care abt charity or the earth… many small pageants such as miss msia model of the year,, miss chinatwon etc are all organised by modeling agencies and most of the time, u see the same top 3 winners over and over again..its a commercial business, they sell the tickets and earn money from the event, not really to choose someone to represnet our country..thats why our beauty pageants standard very low..because the franchise owner themselves are not even up to par…however, i think that miss msia world and universe are not as bad..yes, some of them dun look like the typical beauty queen or wat u see in mag, but i’m sure they r way better than many girls, because they dare to stand up and compete..many pretty and educated girls jus cant do it, because of “kiasu” attitude and jus, plainly afraid to lose…one way or the other, i tink thanuja is a good choice, she may not have the best look, but she has the height, education level and from the finals, her questions and answers section is the best among others, and she spoke with confidence. its better than to choose someone who look damn pretty, but dunno how to talk or act among other beauty queens. we like to compare and comment, but we r not there at all, to see how these girls act etc…so we cant really judge..of cos there are better girls out there, but why arent they joining? yes mayb beauty pageants reputation are not as good, thats why none of the better quality girls wanna join as well…there should be a standard regulations for beauty pageants and the judges should be appointed by a regulated association and not by the franchise owner, i mean some of them dun even qualify as a judge!!
