Michael Jackson’s This is It – My Thoughts
SharePosted on 11. Nov, 2009 by Gallivanter in Reviews, Rewind, Songs
Before I venture on penning my sentiments, I want to state the obvious – this is NOT a movie review because “THIS IS IT” was never plotted to be a movie in the first place! I spent RM120 for a pair of tickets at the Gold Class just to see one of my favorite artist, Michael Jackson showcase his wizardry for the world, through a series of footages of his rehearsals.
It was an artistic revelation of Michael Jackson, a glowing testimonial to the King of Pop, and despite his physical frailness, his voice was astonishingly immaculate. If only this concert was actualized, it would’ve been the best show that we would’ve ever witnessed! I saw MJ 1996 in KL and to date it remains my favorite concert – damn I’m lucky!

I loved how “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” got a makeover. The movie evidences his vulnerable prowess, from grousing about his earpieces to conserving his voice. It testifies that MJ is only human, feeling eager about his earthshaking return. His rehearsals were extraordinary and the backup dancers were in a class of their own.
Michael Jackson’s lack of awareness of the recording makes it even better. The King of Pope exhibits that he is a pure perfectionist, being involved in each cue and musical arrangements. It is such a gloominess to see the footages, knowing that MJ was conserving his energy for the 50 date concert that never came.

“THIS IS IT” is for fans like me who will continue to listen to his music, and not for gossip-mongering retards. Although the “movie” kinda droops after a while due to its repetitiveness nature.
“You’ve got to let it simmer” – Michael Jackson
The most artistic moments were when he finishes his move and stands still with a saintly smile as the lights fade away. Ladies & Gentlemen, there will NEVER be another King of Pop, there will never be another person in this world who can unite us the way he did.
To Michael Jackson, you have been misunderstood and I hope this film gives your name the peace and respect it truly deserves.

He is a legend. A legend that will not be forgotten so easily. He was a moonwalk creator, the “ow” singing beginner, the thriller legend~
He have done a lot while he was able to. MJ is a legend. His songs will definitely live on, the memories of him will remain.
Well, I am not a big fan of MJ… but I do love his work

yeah, he was incredibly awesome. even he handpicked dancers from all over the world couldnt dance like he did. the most unforgettable part for me was when urged his guitar soloist to take centre stage, stand underneath the blowing air, instead of him, and told her “it’s time for you to shine”. The King of Pop with the biggest heart ever. Just amazing.

Despite the hype on the movie, I never planned to go watch it. But since reading your post on the ‘movie’, I’m gonna change my mind. So, it’s more like MJ’s preparations for his concert, huh?

shirley aka beautiza – Yes, no one will.
ladyviral – We should include him into our history lesson, for what he has achieved.
Amanda – SUPERB.
pirut – Thanks!
sweetie~ – Well, for every million, I’m sure there’s a non-fan.
Josette – Well, it’s never meant to be a movie, and it really gives you a different perspective on how MJ strive to be perfect right down to the note.
Nadia – Yeah, the more I think about it, the more lucky I feel.
Christopher – Awesome stuff. I’ll go further by arguing that MJ’s impact is bigger than Elvis and Beatles put together.

Great post, Daniel. It’s such a shame that the world has lost a legend but he lives on in the minds of his fans and the music he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
