Do Men Like Quiet Women?
SharePosted on 04. Jan, 2010 by Gallivanter in Gender, Men
You have got to be kidding me! A friend of mine told me about a conversation she had with a dude, when they met up for dinner with a bunch of friends. She is a very chatty by nature which is usually a sign of a confident woman.
However, this dude, after that dinner session, apparently as advice, told her the next morning, “You should learn to be like X, she’s more the quiet type. Guys like girls who are quiet.”
My jaw dangled with embarrassment on behalf of the REAL male species. Obviously this dude has confidence issues that he becomes insecure and timid around women who exhibit the slightest hint that they’re intellectual enough to carry conversations.
Women, please don’t settle for men like these, they just give real men a bad name. There is a reason why the dude’s still hunting around though eventually I’m sure he’ll catch an uncultivated woman.
On behalf of real men, the answer is NO. We like our women to be self-assured enough to hold her own conversations and be chatty instead of a recluse.

Same goes to men. I know a guy who is so quiet whenever we meet up in a group of 4-5 that I always forgotten that he is there

I guess that dude probably likes his women to be submissive. So typical.
If I meet someone like that, I’ll make sure I’m even more talkative than I normally am

There are also men who talk too much… That one I cannot tahan… Actually ppl who talk too much and non-stop are utterly annoying noise pollution contributors. LOL

I’m with you on this one. I for one wouldn’t want a blond (no offense to all you blonds out there) bimbo who can’t maintain an intelligent conversation …

Answering the question, it depends on individual preference lah kan. Stick or curves, long hair short hair.. But this guy shouldn’t `ve generalized men like that. It’s just him! LOL.

AngeLBeaR – It’s a good indicator of their confidence level.
Daniel Chiam –
Angel – Nope you don’t, it’s how you separate insecurity.
wel – Errr…
Ned & alexis –
Clare – That’s the same “men” who claim they prefer quiet women.
sriyany – Yeah, I still can’t believe he generalized us men. Balls.
Aj – Noisy in bed can be misleading, because chances are, they’re faking it like those bad chinese porn flicks. Haha!
xin –
belle – A guy like that should only date his left hand.
PinknPurpleLizard – OK, but this post is not about that. It’s about some men’s perception that men prefer quiet women.
Nick Phillips – Right on!
sweetie~ – Oh yes he does, hence he’s still single. I hope he builds his confidence soon, for his sake.
DierdreTheseira – Individual preference is there, but to generalize all men like quiet women is a copout by that bugger.

Quiet woman? You mean like you don’t even notice she’s there? Oh, no! I want to talk to someone, not to a wall!

how horrific, but maybe it’s a matter of preference? maybe some just find chatty men/women unbearable and annoying. while some of us find overly quiet people pretentious. I like a ‘balanced’ person, haha, chatty but not LOUD, or quiet but not mute…

This sounds like a minefield of stereotypes. Chatty women = intellectual/self-assured and quiet women = dumb blonde/bimbo/recluse?
Oh please, heaven forbid that there should be people who fall out of convenient, shallow categorization of the masses.
And for that matter you’re also stereotyping men.

lizee – Well, I hope he matures in the long run.
wenn – Moderate is subjective. However, asking women to be quiet, as trying to change the way they are showcases the level of confidence this fella has.
foongpc – Correcto.
tekkaus – That is a sign of a confident woman, who is able to mingle accordingly and not keep hush all the time.
Alv0808 – Yes. If you can carry conversations.
Stella – I don’t think this is the case.
tihtahpah – True, but chatty for me shows confidence, being able to talk just about anything, from light chats to deep conversations.
Jaclyn – Oops, guess I pressed the wrong buttons?
