My Nokia X6 Review
Thanks to my music addiction, I am now officially a Nokia Music Explorer, one of the 50 explorers in Malaysia. With that, I was given a free Nokia X6 mobile phone and was asked to help to contribute to the Facebook page, recommending 2 songs per week (not compulsory). For a person like me, that is just too damn EASY.
In addition, I received a one year free music subscription, further feeding into my addiction where I now have access of a plethora of songs – FREE! The only “downfall” is that it’s in WMA format and not my favorite audio format, MP3. But does it stop me? Of course not!

COOL
1. Contacts filtering – it zooms in automatically on the next letter of that person’s name when you key in the first alphabet. Say if you have “Daniel”, “Dallas”, “Dana”, “Declan”, “Drake” and “Dylan” as your “D”s contacts. Once you select D, the next auto-letter selection would be the second letter of all the “D”s in your contact, i.e. A, E, R, Y. So, when you select A, it will then suggest N, L, and the names would appear.
2. Automated e-mail setup – I just keyed in my gmail account and the X6 handles the rest.
3. Built-in Facebook & Youtube application.
4. 32GB! I have downloaded over 600 songs already thanks to the FREE one year music download subscription!
5. 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. Bear in mind it’s a mobile phone and not a camera so don’t expect anything fancy.
6. Integrated GPS receiver with FREE Ovi Maps and FREE voice-guided navigation, also includes compass and automatic photo geo-tagging option.
7. Amazing touchscreen!
8. TV out jack! I can also hook it up to the car
UNCOOL
1. Battery life is poor. Nokia claims 35 hours of uninterrupted music, but it looks to only be around 10 hours.
2. No built-in projector. 
3. Ovi store has limited application choices.
4. Could be pricey for general Malaysians – easily RM2o00.
5. Reboots every now and then, also has the tendency to hang. Maybe because I open the applications a little too fast. I believe there will be a software upgrade for this soon. It’s rather annoying as I need to restart it every now and again if I find some applications do not work. Oh well, that’s what you get with a free phone I suppose.
6. Have to plug in the headset to access the radio – but I don’t care about this at all as I have not been tuning to our Malaysian radios for almost 9 years now!
7. The plastic body that does not gel perfectly, leaving small but visible gaps.
Overall, I’m in love with the phone, despite its uncool points, it’s cool points just hits a homerun. Depending on the price of the set, I suggest that before you follow blindly the lost bandwagon of being duped into buying an IPhone, compare it with this unit before you walk the plank with Apple.

I got the X6 too.
Totally agree on your review, cept (thankfully) I haven’t experienced the rebooting. Hanging does occur though.
What it lacks in terms of design with its plastic’ish look, smudge inviting screen (reminding me once again why I never took a liking to touch screen phones) and feminine, shiny sky-blue top and bottom frame (I personally think the black and red version of the X6 looks better) it completely makes up in the music aspect and the awesome Carl Zeiss camera!
‘Comes with Music’ is bloody cool too! Suck on that, i-tunes! =p
So, here’s to the X6! Cheers!
Amresh – Agreed! The design’s very feminine and I really wanted the black/red combo instead of this. But it’s free so I can’t complain else I would’ve been RM2100 poorer. Haha! Anyway, I made a comment about that, and some dude said he prefers this color because the red/black is too symbolic to Nokia 5800. I think that fella’s gay. Haha!
