Coming Soon? Mitsubishi Lancer Badged as Proton!
Yes, you read it right. Come year end, Proton will finally stop making the God-damned Waja. They will instead sell Mitsubishi Lancer rebadged under Proton for less than RM80K! I think the Lancer’s approx RM115K in the market, so to those of you who bought the Mitsubishi Lancer, you’re technically screwed in the second-hand car market.
Having said that, I doubt that it’s the above Mitsubishi Lancer the dudes at Proton been yapping about. I have a sneaky feeling it’ll be this Lancer, Lancer Fortis instead, which is very similar to the Waja and is as ugly.
Whatever it may be, I’m glad to have gotten rid of the Proton Gen-2. While it has served me well for 5 years, I realized what I was truly missing when I switched to a Kia Forte. Driving these days has been an absolute pleasure!

Proton lancau!! wakakak! I imagine the handbrake looks like one! hahahahaha! Or the transmission gear! hahaha..~
This is the ultimate insult to a car as gorgeous as the Lancer.
Girllyen – Or or, the whole car looks like one big….haha!
PinknPurpleLizard – Yeap, it is. Malaysia bolay?
Lancer? Smart but i think it’s an insult to the famous Lancer or Lancer Evo. Damn the design looks like Evo 10..But Proton lancau? Damn man, I’m laughing so hard here in the office. I don’t want to imagine how it looks likes..LOL~
Sarah – Apparently the only difference is the LOGO and nothing else! Proton are desperate to revive their flagging sales. Can you imagine if the government removes the safety net on Proton and open the market like Thailand? The end.
In comparison to Honda,Toyota,Nissan,Mazda and Mitsubishi, the latter is the most awkward looking which only fit in for the old dumbman and this is the platform of proton.
If this design comes in 2004 to replace the Waja, then i tend to agree it looks ok. But now the Q4 2010 is coming and some idiots say it looks very nice and very sporty…a typical 3rd world class mentality. No wonder Lancer cannot compete with Honda, Toyota and Nissan interm of sales volume in Malaysia.
Berg – Agreed. The sporty Lancer is alright but it’s probably my second choice as there are better looking cars out there. I LOVE the new Kia Forte.
