Sugar Ray – Fly (Floored 1997)

[ad]

The year was 1997. This song really went down well with most of us humans back then. 1997, to me, was the height of alternative music – Smash Mouth, Tonic, Verve Pipe – all definitive in its own ways!

And because of this tune, I purchased Sugar Ray’s album. The other songs on the album though, didn’t sound anything like “Fly”. Just like Cranberries and the ca-ca they spewed out packaging it with “Zombie”. Sugar Ray, were anything but a one hit wonder.

They were a two hit wonder. Ha! If you have not heard of this tune, bash yourself in the head for being stupefied by Josh Groban’s rubbish.

Sugar Ray – Fly

All around the world statues crumble for me
Who knows how long I’ve loved you
Everywhere I go people stop and they see
Twenty-five years old, my mother, God rest her soul

I just wanna fly
Put your arms around me baby

Dance a little stranger show me where you’ve been
Love can make you hostage wanna do it again
There’s no time to think
About the starting and or the end
We’ll find out I’m told, my mother, she told me so

I just wanna fly
Put your arms around me baby
