Aravind Adiga – The White Tiger

A dazzling story that had me riveted to its pages during my 12 days of bliss away from the office. It was difficult to ignore the book.
“…I should start off by kissing some God’s arse. Which God’s arse though? There are so many choices. See, the Muslims have one God. The Christians have 3 Gods and we Hindus have 36,000,000 Gods. Making a grand total of 36,000,004 divine arses for me to choose from.”
The result is a novel that bursts with euphuism, where we are taken through the realities of India and its thousand castes. The book was actually funny with full of caustic remarks. The White Tiger is the story of a poor man in today’s India.
I can see why this book won the prestigious “Man Booker Prize 2008″. It’s a must read! 9/10 on the Gallivanter scale.
I’ve been lucky enough to have seen a White Tiger at the Bangalore Zoo more than 10 years ago during my first visit to India. The sight was awe-inspiring.

Ever seen a baby tiger before??? I saw some once at Sunway Lagoon. The trainer was holding the baby tigers and giving them a day out from their cage. The urge to pat them and stare at their big paw was simply incredible! Cant imagine how a baby white tiger will make me feel..

I saw a white tiger when i was at the Genting Highlands last october. It was part of a daily magic show put up by a western magician. I managed to watch one of the shows there and it was an opportunity to see a live white tiger, a big one though. After the show finished, everyone could have a pose with the tiger…with a fee of RM100 per person!
i never see white tiger but in TV only…
i always dream of having white tiger as a pet….

Too young at the time to think of it that way except that I was in awe of mother nature! I know it is not the right thing to think but I so so so so so so so so wish I can cuddle those lil babies! Of course, they might cut me to shred with their sharp claws and teeth but it is fun ‘thinking’ about hugging and cuddling them!
