4 Biggest Career Change Boo-boos
A long time ago, when there are many rats in the rat race, people tend to remain with the same job for life in return for a modest pension and some dodgy gold watch. Stability was key. These days though, a career jump is often the only way to generate an income increase.
I know a few people who left their job, and suffered because they were blinded by the following mistakes.
1. Some people jump ship because whenever the going gets tough, they simply throw in the towel. People like this are commitment-phobes, and will probably never secure a position of high importance.
2. Sometimes, when you change to a new industry, it is considered a leap of faith, and could either backfire or work wonders. You need to understand the new industry and be prepared that although the money’s good, it’s a new plain.
3. Money money money. If money is your only reason behind a career shift, then you’re not looking at the bigger picture, it’s the quality of life that will decide your job satisfaction. More cash is only a short-term pleasure.
4. The resume, it’s your first weapon of battle to convince potential suitors. I know a lot of people from my previous hiring experiences, fail to see the importance of a resume and how it can affect their career. People fail to polish the resume, to make it relevant to the job application. I suggest to drop the chronological resume in favor on a functional resume, based on skill and experience.
You would think that with the availability of the internet, unlike years ago, would limit the boo-boos above. Unfortunately, while technology improves lives, it’s not the cure of laziness and mistakes.

I totally agree on the resume part. Newbies always try to fit in as much as possible to their resume without having it make sense with the industry that they are trying to get in. In my line of work, I have seen tons of resume and those that is really great will impress you a lot just by going through it.
Exactly, I’ve seen many resume, and a resume only has 30 seconds to make an impression on me else I will toss it.
