How do you select your profile photos? Do you have a list of prerequisites? Must always look down to cover your double chin, or to shoot from the top to look like a puppy?

For me, it’s my smile, or something wacky, depending on availability. I know that women tend to smile more often as men and also exude flirty looks too, either subconsciously or consciously.

Self Photos
The ones I find annoying are the self-photos taken with your mobile phone or webcam. I wonder if that means they are trying to portray themselves as approachable, or they’re going for that “cute” look. Either way, I find this hilarious and definitely unattractive, but I’m sure some men out there love these types of shot. Anyone care to comment?

Shirtless Shots
What about showing up your body – shirtless pose for the men? Don’t they come off as weirdly desperate? When women criticize these photos, do they secretly admire them?

Studio Shots
Don’t get me started with the studio shots, self-absorbed poses, “syok sendiri”. Why do most women like doing that? I remember one of them told me the reason was to ensure their “beauty” is captured before they turn into old hags. (OK she didn’t say old hags I just added that for spice. Haha!). I have one studio shot of myself, but it wasn’t for any social profiles, more for an application to Amazing Race Asia Season 2.

Gallivanter's Amazing Race 2 Application - Studio Shot

Cleavage Shots
What about the cleavage shot for women? They know for a fact that boobies do get all men’s attention, it’s their reaction that could be different after a few seconds of ogling. But, if shirtless men get the secret attention of women, I think cleavage shots do the same for men. Obviously as you age, cleavage/shirtless shots would come off as looking rather unattractive.

Faceless Shots
OK, some people don’t show their faces to protect their identity. What the. Then why join a social network? What’s the reason behind this? Wanted by the authorities? Trying to be mysterious? Haha, I’m actually guilty of this too, though it was unintentional.

Gallivanter's Faceless "O" Shot

What other shots do you find interesting or annoying?

Although some points here have been over-stated in the past, it’s still good to read it. This is for you men out there, a pointer from the lovely Alyssa Milano, whom I used to have a schoolboy crush on, extracted from ESQUIRE!

Alyssa Milano's 10 Things You Don't Know About Women

1. Women are innately self-conscious. This is not a choice; it’s a genderwide condition. On a bad day, I look in the mirror and see my ten-pound-heavier alter ego. Her name is Bertha. On a really bad day, Bertha sees her two-hundred-pound-heavier alter ego. Her name is Brian Dennehy.

2. Women produce half the world’s food but own only 1 percent of its farmland. So we’re fine with you picking up the tab. And after about three thousand dinners at Nobu, we should be even.

3. Women like porn, too. We just hate it when you hide the porn.

Alyssa Milano's 10 Things You Don't Know About Women

4. Women remember everything. Don’t believe me? Ask your girlfriend where you met. She won’t tell you it was at a party. She’ll say it was a Thursday, she had just come from dinner, where she ate a veggie burger, and she was wearing her friend Cathy’s pink top, which was big on her because Cathy is a big girl. You were wearing a blue button-down, drinking a Jack and Coke with two straws, and talking to Bill, that mutual friend. She waved and you gave her the “what’s up” nod. This still infuriates her. (“How could you give me the nod?”)

5. An eyelash curler, while mean and ferocious looking, is not a weapon.

6. No matter how much your woman loves you, there are going to be three to seven days each month when she wants you dead. (She may even quietly fantasize about turning her eyelash curler against you.) You have two options: Tie yourself to a tree and wait out the storm, or stock up at Tiffany’s, toss a blue box or two into the wind, and hope for the best. We recommend the latter. (The key chain doesn’t count.)

Alyssa Milano's 10 Things You Don't Know About Women

7. We think it’s weird when you watch sports and concentrate to help your team.

8. “Hey, Melissa, who’s the boss?” Not a good pickup line. “Hey, Phoebe, where’d you park your broomstick?” Not a good pickup line. “Hey, Alyssa, you look 250 pounds lighter than Brian Dennehy in that dress.” Surprisingly good pickup line.

9. Women hear better than men. That’s before you even factor in listening skills and attention spans. Come to think of it, I should have listed this one first because I’m sure I’ve lost you by now.

10. You may be surprised to know that women were responsible for inventing all of the following: the circular saw, the signal flare, the space suit, the bulletproof vest, and the windshield wiper. You’re welcome.

Alyssa Milano's 10 Things You Don't Know About Women

In the current society we live in, long gone are the days where you can just live on love. Eagles’ misled us when they sang “love will keep us alive”. While the gist of it may ring true to some extent, these days, love comes with a whole lot of appurtenances, especially in pecuniary form.

I know someone who claimed that she had a tough choice determining her manly options as both suitors had their own strengths and weaknesses.

One one corner stands a very loving man, handsome but not really well-to-do, and the other corner, a not-so-loving fellow, rich as hell but ugly as hell too. She is undecided.

Herein lies the dilemma. My question to my women readers – What would you opt for if you were in her shoes? What would be your criteria?

I know that love cannot be everything in life, as balance is needed, but the scale of balance can be very subjective. Ultimately, money can be earned but not love. There is no price for love.

You have got to be kidding me! A friend of mine told me about a conversation she had with a dude, when they met up for dinner with a bunch of friends. She is a very chatty by nature which is usually a sign of a confident woman.

However, this dude, after that dinner session, apparently as advice, told her the next morning, “You should learn to be like X, she’s more the quiet type. Guys like girls who are quiet.”

My jaw dangled with embarrassment on behalf of the REAL male species. Obviously this dude has confidence issues that he becomes insecure and timid around women who exhibit the slightest hint that they’re intellectual enough to carry conversations.

Women, please don’t settle for men like these, they just give real men a bad name. There is a reason why the dude’s still hunting around though eventually I’m sure he’ll catch an uncultivated woman.

On behalf of real men, the answer is NO. We like our women to be self-assured enough to hold her own conversations and be chatty instead of a recluse.

I read this article on Mens Health this morning and I must say it’s very enlightening, though I know a few. I’m regurgitating this list for you guys out there.

25 Secrets Women Wish Men Knew

1. Please listen to me. Not because what I’m about to say will rock your world, but because listening is a sign of respect that rocks my world.

2. Women speak a different dialect than men. For example, “I’m fine” means “I’m so not fine,” just as “No dessert for me” means “I’ll be polishing off yours.”

3. Remember, PMS stands for “physical and mental stress.” So let me cry freely, behave irrationally, and eat your dessert. My mood swings are hormonal, not personal.

4. Manicures and pedicures are a woman’s gift to her man. I love looking pretty for you. The time to worry is when I stop going for them.

5. Always tell me when I look hot; never tell me when I don’t. And don’t forget: I need 20 compliments to offset one thoughtless remark

6. I remember the shirt you were wearing when you first said, “I love you.” The fact that you don’t makes me question whether you meant it.

7. I loved you long before I told you. Playing the long game is in a woman’s DNA.

8. Of course you’re the best lover I’ve ever had. All others cease to exist when I fall in love.

9. I’ll never tell you my true number. Never, never, never! Besides, see Secret 8.

10. I read your horoscope every day.

11. I secretly delight when the people slip up and call us Mr. and Mrs.

12. Spontaneously kiss my neck from behind, and I might let you stay back there for a while.

13. Yes, my girlfriend knows what we did last night. We share everything, including that.

14. Make me laugh and I’m happy. Laugh at yourself and I’m all yours.

15. A little jealousy is good if (a) no kneecaps are broken and (b) you don’t cross-examine me to exhaustion. The right balance shows you care, and it’s even flattering.

16. I don’t withhold sex to punish you. Sometimes I just need to be left alone but, at the same time, not left alone. And no, I can’t explain that.

17. I can, will, and do fake it. Like when Gossip Girl is starting. Would you rather I fake a headache?

18. I love sex. With or without you, as Bono might say. My mind is filthier than you might think.

19. You are irresistible: freshly showered, doing something sporty or strenuous, smiling, suited, reading the business section, DIY-ing.

20. “Do you want flowers?” kills the romantic gesture. Don’t ask, just do.

21. I’ll probably be late—because I’m preening for you. At least that’s how I reason. My reasoning skills are phenomenal!

22. If you cheat, I may not break up with you. But you’ll wish I had.

23. I once kissed a girl and liked the taste of her cherry ChapStick. No, I didn’t. That’s your fantasy. Sincerely sorry.

24. Here’s how to fix what you’re doing wrong in bed: When you go slow, go slower. When you go fast, go faster.

25. I feel lucky to have you, and I hope you feel the same. You can’t have it all unless you have someone to share it with.

Women are much more stimulated with romantic words, images, and themes in films and stories.

When women envisage about sex, they evoke the aura surrounding sex. Women also like more kissing, embracing and touching during sex. In a nutshell, women identify the act of bonking within a broader physical setting.

Men equate orgasm with sex thus is far more focused on the act of make whoopee itself. Yes, we are 2 different creatures but ultimately in a relationship, we must communicate with each other so we are able to interpret each other’s actions and be closer.

This is one of my pet peeves – waiting for a woman to get dress. It’s difficult to blame them, as I think it’s in their DNA. Men tend to be on time, or at least within 30 minutes. However, I dislike being late as I think most men can say the same.

Women on the other hand, NEEDS to be late, as late as possible! I’m not sure if they think it’s some sort of fashion to be late, so all eyes are on them when they make an entrance. This will always be one of the mysteries of life.

OK, I can speak for men, our toilet visits are quick. We go in, do the business, and get out. Women though, of course, depending on who they go out with, it become an outing, talking about the various subjects.

I believe us men practice a set of unspoken rules of silence as a respect for personal space. Are we different or are we different?

Good thing my fiancée is an exception to the rule. To all you women, why do you like spending longer time than required in a place where the process of defecation and urination takes place?

Workplace equality has been an issue for feminists for ages, but can women be equal to men? Based on facts, of course not, if you disagree then you’re either misled or your a woman, or both.

Unfortunately, women bosses are worst then men bosses, and even women agree to that fact. Why? Simply, women cannot control their emotions, as they run the department like a relationship, and when they cannot control their emotions, they take it out on everyone within their vicinity.

All women have Queen Bee syndrome

When women get promoted in the workplace, they have a nasty penchant for turning on one another — viciously. Apparently, women are so paranoid and irrational that they think every other woman in creation is gunning for their position. It’s as if they’ve never heard of something called merit. According to the Workplace Bullying Institute, a full 40% of workplace bullying incidents are instigated by women. Taken at face value, this seems like the minority until you remember that women make up nowhere near 40% of the management workforce. It turns out they feel it necessary to defend their jobs with all the guile and intrigue you’d find on a third-grade playground. Like that bully from grade school, the Queen Bee has a similar overcompensation problem. If women in positions of power felt they were qualified and competent, would they really need to be such raging bitches? We think not.

Business was built by men, for men

Anyone who has seen an episode of Mad Men knows that business was, and is supposed to be, the domain of men. Really, for all the talk about women making strides toward workplace equality, the truth is that the business culture is still a man’s world. Deals are still done with a handshake over cocktails in a dark lounge — not really what you’d call feminine. In order for women to compete with any level of competence, they have to adopt masculine qualities. Take a look at the pants suit; seriously, what the hell is that? No one likes the pants suit. You know who wears a pants suit?

Hillary Clinton.

By many accounts, she was something of a woman back in college. I mean, she was a hippie, but one of the female hippies. We’re guessing she had to exhibit some feminine wiles to get Bill’s attention. But in the world of politics, she became a shrewd operator who rivals Rahm Emmanuel in back room, boys’ club dealings. Which is fine — she’s successful. But in all reality, Hillary Clinton is a man.

Women hold grudges

If you were to ask the woman who inspired the adage, “there’s nothing more fearsome than a woman scorned,” what it was that pissed her off, the smart money says she remembers exactly what it was. Women are masters of holding grudges, for even the slightest perceived injustice — which makes them terrible bosses. The business world is a give-and-take, battles-waged, deals lost and mistakes made kind of world. Everything done is a learning experience for personal growth, not a personal attack that needs to be avenged with the same ferocity of a mother bear defending her cub. The grudge-holding attitude women bring to the office wears on everyone involved. Women will sue professional rivals simply because they think they’ve been personally slighted. It’s completely irrational and completely inappropriate. Women would rather act like petulant children, fighting the last battle, than look forward to the next obstacle.

WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE

Leading an office is not unlike leading troops into battle. There are goals to attain, hills to take, battles to win — all of which require decisive leadership and the respect of those serving underneath. Women just cannot engender that sort of respect in their troops due to the backstabbing, the grudge-holding and the constant emotional outbursts. Women are better than men at some things, but being the boss sure ain’t one of ‘em.

[ad]

I read an article about this on the net and it got me thinking. Are women worse bosses than men? Based on my experience, I would have to say yes. Now women, before you go all feministic on me, with your emotions blazing as always, take deep breaths and look at this objectively.

Speaking of emotions, that’s a weakness for women, as when you know they are having an emo day, they let it affect their work, and take it out on their colleagues.

That makes them hold grudges. And when you piss your lady boss off, even unknowingly, prepare for hell. They will throw knives at you and become irrational, which makes them terrible bosses.

Yup, that’s true, while women think men behave like children, it’s in fact women would behave like kids at work, seeking revenge.

I’m not saying that men are better than women, as there are things that men suck at, but, on this subject, backstabbing, revenge-seeking, emotional breakdowns, come from women.

OK, the answer is elementary, either blind trust, naiveness or just plain immoral. I can’t believe that women allow their boyfriends taking nude photos of them, and then end up being chicaned and having their “plight” published in the local newspapers.

Then they run to the MCA fella, who plausibly asks them for photo evidence and then secretly sell it to the highest bidder of porn peddlers.

I know that having sex is part and parcel of life, before or after marriage. All the sex before marriage is rubbish because most are hypocrites anyway, but please try to use some common sense.

Do you think by permitting your boyfriend photograph you topless or butt naked, its as good as saying “I Do” at the altar? What happens if you break up, and he decides to go all harebrained and threatens to leak the photos on the internet? Run to MCA again?

In most cases, it happens to women who are unmarried. They believe in the sanctity of love. While it is laudable, unfortunately, a number of them get their common senses clouded by love.

Women love telling men to grow up all the time, and to a certain extent, they are right because we all have a child in us (not in a Michael Jackson way), but in this instance let us tell you, women, you need to grow up!

Don’t be stupid. Or at least equalize the situation, take his naked photo too, and then counter-threat him that you will show the world how puny and shrivelled his manhood is when he threatens you. Yes, 2 wrongs DO make a right in some cases.

If you are planning to buy a secondhand car, would the previous owner’s gender play a big role in your decision? I remember how many people claim that it’s best to buy a car from a woman driver because she maintains the car very carefully. YES – but only aesthetically!

While men fail in maintaining the car in the aesthetic department, internally, the car is probably better maintained that women. Women are known to fail in maintaining the car appropriately – of course, not all, but I would go on a limb and say most.

So, what decision would you make, get a secondhand from a lady driver who maintains the outlook of the car but not internally or from a man driver who maintains the internal parts of the car pretty well, but probably fail in the aesthetics department.

I remember someone telling me that his woman friend maintains the car beautifully but never drives it past 4th gear (when manual cars ruled the roads). She’s been doing that for 3 years! Can you imagine, the 5th gear is not touched at all! You think the car will be in good shape?

Generally, men “thrash” cars. Hence, for me, it’s a pretty much double edge sword. I would probably check the car internally to see if it’s well maintained and fully give it a test drive, pushing its limits. Though it doesn’t mean that the car would be “perfect”, but it helps decrease the likelihood of you buying a shoddy second-hand car.

So what if there are scratches and dents (not talking about major accident repairs), all it takes is some knocking and painting.

How would you decide?

HER SMILE
Goes without saying – her smile can set our hormones raging with hunka hunka burning love. It’s like a magnet that draws our attention.

HER FEMINITY
Let’s face it, no dude like a manly woman unless the dude’s having a serious sexual orientation issue. We are drawn to this simply because deep down inside, we’re small children and need your loving! Hence – the more delicate, soft, kind-hearted and caring you are, the more we love ya! But of course, it must come with confidence and not weak or overly shy.

HER VOICE
Yowza! Need I say more? At times I wonder how the men living in India find their women attractive because almost all of them have deep low voices which is a turn-off to most men.

HER SENSE OF HUMOR
But of course, lucky Mel has one good enough to put up with my crazy antics. We’re not saying that you should be able to make people laugh until snot comes out from their noses, but to understand and laugh at jokes.

HER MAINTENANCE
Being down-to-earth and not high maintenance are turn-ons for men. We equate high maintenance to being snobbish bitchy character that will just be as annoying as a pimple on your face.

HER PERSONALITY
Weak women make us puke – hence strong personality coupled with her ability to make her own sound decisions are definitely a plus. But, please note there’s a difference between strong personality and being just plain ass stubborn.

HER EYES
Definitely! That’s why you see some women go all out to improve their eyes by wearing colored contact lenses and all that jazz. They know that some men can simply fall in love with the woman’s eyes – as the eyes say everything.

HER HAIR
I always preferred women with long hair (pass the shoulders) because it’s feminine. All that talk about women having short hair is plain hogwash. Sure, you can have short hair when you’re older because you have passed the sell-by-date. Real men prefer women with long hair.

Is there other traits that you can think off? That question is directed to men ONLY, because women’s perception towards men liking stick figures and all the BS that the fashion world led them to believe is skewered.
