Danny Fernandes - Private Dancer

This is a pleasant sounding track. Unfortunately, I haven’t a clue who this dude is, but on first impression, he sounds like a Chris Brown clone. Still, this track is not too tatty, it has a nice rhythmic hook, which is a plus.

  • G-Unit - Rider Pt 2

“Rider Pt.2″ is the best song off G-Unit’s second album, Terminate on Sight, that I reviewed 2 weeks ago. When it comes to hip hop music, it’s all about the beat. The lyrics really is secondary because the rappers spend half of the time cussing. 50 Cent lends his vocals for the chorus, with a little bit of “auto-tone” effect.

    G-Unit - Rider Pt. 2

I done told ya boy, I’m a soldier boy
I got no choice but to be a rider
I approach ya boy, with the toaster boy
Get to point blank range & fire
I ain’t trying a hear shit I’m supposed to be rich
Mother fucker get in way of my bread
Then I’m gone load my shit, then cock my shit
Nigga Tre-Pound come for your head

  • Shinedown - Second Chance

The album kicks off with a strident first track (second track actually, I skipped “Devour”), which is the title track, “The Sound of Madness”. I’d recommend this song for all you headbangers. I love that track that I kept it on rewind for hours and hours (OK, not for the whole day but during my commute to and fro to work today).

When the next track kicked in, I thought I unearthed a solid rock album. “Second Chance” is an awe-inspiring  mid-tempo tune that deserves to see the light of the day. I was already slobbering in anticipation of what’s to come. Thoughts of another BREAKING BENJAMIN-like band came to mind, and I was already thinking of downloading all of Shinedown’s previous work.

Sadly, that was not the case, shortly after this tune, it declined towards averageness. Oh well. There’s always Offspring’s new album to fall back on….oh wait, I just remembered the new album “Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace” sucked bigtime. I’m gonna look for my Breaking Benjamin CD.

    Shinedown - Second Chance

My eyes are open wide and by the way, I made it
Through the day I watched the world outside
By the way, I’m leaving out today
Well, I just saw hailey’s comet shooting
Said why you always running in place?
Even the man in the moon disappears
    Somewhere in the stratosphere

Tell my mother, Tell my father
I’ve done the best I can
    To make them realise
This is my life I hope they understand
I’m not angry, I’m just saying
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance

Please don’t cry one tear for me
I’m not afraid of what I have to say
This is my one and only voice
So listen close, it’s only for today
Well, I just saw hailey’s comet shooting
Said why you always running in place?
Even the man in the moon disappears
    Somewhere in the stratosphere

  • Motley Crue - The Animal in Me

I checked out Motley Crue’s latest album, “Saints of Los Angeles”, featuring the group’s original lineup. After blogging about the title track, “Saints of Los Angeles”, which I think takes us back to the good old 80’s rock and roll.

The other songs on the album is rather weak though, nothing stands out as much as this tune, “The Animal In Me”, a mid-tempo rock tune which I feel, if released, should do considerably well in the rock charts.

Motley Crue - The Animal in Me

    It feels like thunder
    When we’re slowly diggin in
    It kinda makes me wonder
About the lovers that have been.
Lyin in my bed with her hands tied up
I knew it all along that it wasnt enough
Cus when I gotta taste of you
I found somethin I could sink my teeth into

Its an ache that never heals
Its the deepest cut you feel
Its the thing in you that feeds
    The animal in me
Its the darker side of lust
Its the other side of us
Its the thing in you that feeds
    The animal in me

I wanna be your last breath
    Before we suffocate
    A kiss you cant forget
Like a wedding on a rainy day
The chills keep shootin’ down the back of my neck
Like a freight train poundin’ in the pit of my chest
Cus when I got a taste of youI found
Somethin I could sink my teeth into

  • I think this song will go down really well with the ladies. It has one of those choruses that women may find it hard to resist. I think Nelly Furtado’s alright in terms of musical contribution, especially when Timbaland came-a-calling.

Zero Assoluto ft Nelly Furtado - Win or Lose

Will you ever see that I
    Couldn’t turn a blind eye
The day that we said goodbye
    It’s true that someday
    Your honesty will pay
    And I paid my dues
    Now who’s gonna say
    You win or lose

  • LL Cool J ft The Dream - Baby

LL Cool J, I thoroughly enjoyed his 2004 outing, especially “Headsprung”. His next album, Exit 13, is due to be released at the end of July 2008. I believe this is the first single off the album, featuring The Dream. The chorus may not have the lyrical power, in fact, it’s “Baby” repeated a number of times. By the time the second chorus comes in, you should be down with this tune.

  • Lights - Drive My Soul

“When you’re gone, will I lose control?”. It’s a pretty decent track by this independent Canadian artiste, and by the sound of things, should do rather well in the music charts.

    Lights - Drive My Soul

Seems somebody put out the moon
Now the road is a minefield
I can’t follow the way she moves
I can’t see past the shadows
    You make the darkness disappear
I feel found when you stay near
I know where I am when you are here
    My way becomes so clear

    When you’re gone
    Will I lose control?
You’re the only road I know
You show me where to go
    Who will drive my soul?

Seems somebody burned out the signs
I can’t expect the hard curves
    There’s no borders
    There are no lines
How can I know where to turn?
You make the street lights reappear
I feel bright when you stand near
I know what I am when you are here
    My place becomes so clear

  • Keri Hilson - Energy

Keri Hilson, has been writing songs for God-knows how long. She finally decides to launch her debut solo album, In a Perfect World. The first single, is “Energy”, which is rather catchy in its own way. Some of you may heard her voice in Xzibit’s Hey Now Mean Muggin, Timbaland’s The Way I Are and Timbaland’s Scream with Nicole Scherzinger. Yup, she’s the voice in The Way I Are chorus.

    Keri Hilson - Energy

I’m having nightmares from sleeping with the enemy
    We gotta re-reverse the chemistry
I don’t want us to be the end of me
This love is taking all of my energy
    Energy, My Energy
    Taking all my energy
    Energy, My Energy
    Taking all of (my energy)

  • David Cook - Straight Ahead

“So take a minute just to breathe and think of everything you wanted.” - David Cook. I reviewed David Cook’s Analog Heart, a 2006 effort, a few days ago, after Cook became the first American Idol from the rock genre. I was delighted, because I rate David Cook, a much better singer than Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry. I sometimes get the notion that Daughtry overdoes it.

This effort, pre-Idol years, is average based on Cook’s newly-found standards. Still, I can’ help but like the first number, “Straight Ahead”, an upbeat rock track.

    David Cook - Straight Ahead

    I’ve got questions for you
    You’ve got answers untrue
I can walk these circles all night long
Take a pill and sleep off
    Everything you can think of
Walking all these circles to a song
Could you play me something new?

So take a minute just to breathe
And think of everything you wanted
    And what you got instead
Is it a labor just to see
Around the left, the right, over my head
    To straight ahead

Find a new way to feel right
    Between this time a fistfight
I can read the circles ’round your eyes
This is life, this is no rhyme
Find a beat, find the right time
To organize the circles to a song
Could you play me something new?

  • He’s been my favorite American Idol ever since he did Chris Cornell’s version of Billie Jean. Although it was not original as the judges believed, it was arguably better than Cornell’s version. I predicted the top 3 to be David Cook, Michael Johns and David Archuleta.

I hated last year’s American Idol - Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis were the epitome of garbage. I only watched one episode, when Bon Jovi mentored, and I thought Melinda Doolittle stood out by a thread. Still, American Idol 6 was rubbish.

Speaking of rubbish, this season’s garbages were David Hernandez, Amanda Overmyer, Chikezie, Ramiele Malubay, Kristy Lee Cook, Jason Castro. I can’t fathom how the useless Castro made the Top 3. Disgusting.

So-so singers include Carly Smithson, Brook White and Syesha Mercado - who were much better than Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis COMBINED.

Did you know that David Cook has an album back in 2006, “Analog Heart”, which I’ve heard and thought it was average by his standards, with “Straight Ahead” and “The Truth” standing out.

David Cook’s best performances include “Hello”, “Billie Jean”, “Baba O’Riley”, “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Dream Big”. I’m not too fond of the winner’s single, “The Time of My Life”, I prefer “Inside Your Heaven”.

I hope David Cook records this track for his upcoming album, it’s enjoyably upbeat - “Dream Big”. If all goes well, hopefully he goes on to become the best AMERICAN IDOL winner, eclipsing the frontrunners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

As for the rest of the Idol winners, they do not have staying power and will eventually fade away. I just hope that David Cook does not go down that path.

    David Cook - Dream Big

When I was a little boy
I swore that I would change the world when I grew up
    Nothing else would be enough
    I see it everyday
    We settled for safe
And lose ourselves along the way

Cause if you dont dream big
    What’s the use of dreaming
    If you dont have faith
    There’s nothing worth believing
    It takes one look
To make the stars worth reaching for
So reach out for something more

    Took a well perfected plan
    For me to finally understand
    That it’s not me
Faith is something you can see
    I wiped my tears away
Now its time for a change
No I cant waste another day
