Chris Daughtry Reviewed

DaughtryHaving downloaded Daughtry’s new album, I expected to hear originality. Fresh songs. But I was let down. He didn’t divagate from the commercial sounding elements. He was not adventurous. Pity, a great voice, thwarted by a mediocre album.

After listening to it for the third time, I began to find his songs are OKAY. But still, nothing phenomenal. Even SLASH (my favorite lead guitarist after Richie Sambora of course!) couldn’t save this album from becoming a dud.

Spare your boodles (unless you have the hots for this bloke) and hope that he returns with a more refined album the next time around.

The first single, “It’s Not Over” is simply too cliched. Ho hum stuff. “Feels Like Tonight” sounds like a song you’ve heard before. “Home” is not too bad. Slash-powered “What I Want” doesn’t have a catchy chorus, just some kickass guitar playing by Slash. 5/10

Daughtry – Home

Well I’m going home, back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I’m not running from. No, I think you got me all wrong,
I don’t regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces I can’t ignore
So I’m going home. Well I’m going home.
