Leonardo Dicaprio (Blood Diamond Reviewed)

Blood DiamondMy thoughts on BLOOD DIAMOND? A super movie. Though I clambered at first to stay awake, not because of the movie, but because I was fatigued. We watched the 12am show at 1U.

This movie is set during the civil war in Sierra Leone. Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), a South African soldier of fortune (Zimbabwe) and Solomon Vandy, venture on a dangerous trip through insurgent territory in search for the exceptional rough stone hidden by Solomon Vandy earlier while he was forced to work in the diamond fields. The ever yummy Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist helps them in their quest for the diamond.

DiCaprio’s getting better with his acting. After Titanic, he has been selecting some really good roles. I enjoyed watching The Beach, Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator and the recent, The Departed. I have added this to my list of good DiCaprio flicks. Well done Leo!

He has 3 upcoming films in the next year or so. Blink – A series of short stories about how people make snap judgements in different situations that come up in life. Robert Ludlum’s The Chancellor Manuscript – involving power brokers and a blackmailed plot targeted to alter U.S. policy. And Martin Scorcese’s The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt – the 26th president of the USA. (information extracted from IMDB)

7.5/10
