Lifehouse – Storm (“Who We Are” Review)

Just heard Lifehouse’s new album. I was in love with their previous album, which yielded hits like “You & Me”, “Blind”, not forgetting older tunes like “Everything” & “Hanging By a Moment”.

Lifehouse - Who We Are

Their first single off the album, “First Time”, is a pretty moderate track, and you’ll be bored faster than Timberlake changes his women. From the album, 4 tracks jumped out.

The first track, “Disarray”, is a good curtain-raiser for the album, that leaves you kinda pumped up, and it sets the theme for the rest of the songs – upbeat. The title track, “Who We Are” sounded like a filler-song though almost catchy. Then comes “Broken”, which could be a hit, but not as defining as “You & Me”.

“Storm”, to me, is the BEST track on the album, it’s the closing song, which finishes the album with aplomb. Wade’s haunting vocals carries the first minute of the song without ANY instrument backup. As Will Ferrell would say, “it’s mindbottling”.

Unfortunately, the other songs sounds like one full record, it’s a kind of album where you feel that the pause between songs is pointless, because most of it sound the same, and you’ll start to ponder whether you’re stuck in full Groundhog Day mode.

The album gets a 5/10 on the Gallivanter Scale.

Lifehouse – Storm

How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the oceans shapeless form
The water’s getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you everything would be alright
If I could see you this darkness would turn into light
And I will walk on water, and you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
And everything will be alright, and everything will be alright

I know you didn’t bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down
Barely surviving has become my purpose
Cause I’m so used to living underneath the surface
