My Nokia 6300 Reviewed

I’ve been a proud owner of that slim Nokia 6300 for almost a month now. NO REGRETS. It’s a slim and sleek phone, coupled with all the functionalities of a modern mobile phone, barring 3G. How slim? 106.4 x 43.6 x 11.7 mm. It weighs a measly 91 gram.
16 million colours with a mini USB support and a 2MP (1600×1200 pixel) camera. Talk time of up to 3.5 hours, and a standby of some 300+ hours. The camera doesn’t come with auto-focus nor flash, but, I bought a phone NOT a camera!

The phone feels very solid, and with a stainless steel cover. It’s so comfortable to carry around in my jeans. The screen is kinda large, so no worries of me squinting.
The navigation keys feels a little thin on the side and can be awkward at times to press. One cool feature is the blue lights on either side of the 6300, which glows when you have an unread text message – not that big a deal, but I like.

To summarize, the 6300 typifies what Nokia does best – it’s frigging simple, so easy to use and it feels sturdy. Yes, it would have been great to have 3G connectivity, but I hardly use 3G anyway.

How does one use Push to talk? Anyone?

hmm… I was expecting some photos taken by you
LcF Nah, it’s gonna look the same anyway. Why bother?
wow! cool! nice phone!
push to talk, kinda like walkie talkie thingy. u use 012? u can check it out at their website..u have to download the settings
rm1 for daily usage..cant remember how much isit for monthly/weekly
no distance limitation i think!
huei The phone’s amazing. I love it. Thanks for the tip on Push to Talk, but it’ll only work if the other party’s signed up with this too right? Hmmm…
ooohhh…nice phone dude
Danny, regarding the push to talk, if I am not mistaken, it doesn’t matter if the other party is not subscribed to the push to talk AS LONG as his/her phone supports this.
But that as good as no use I guess. So far only limited phones can handle pust to talk service and all Nokia.
nicktay It is. Nokia’s best for that price range.
Faiez Hmm, I should sign up then since most people I know are using Nokia. Only the harebrained ones use Sony. Brouhahahaha!
Nothing on the software / OS part?
Jason Well, it’s not a Symbian OS, so it’s definitely stable.
Functionality with looks. Nice. and Nokia’s always user friendly. You still going to get that Nokia which looks like MotoRazr?
my 3 yr old phone also has PTT, but til today still no idea what it does!
Lex That’s true. Nah, I’m not gonna get that. I’ve decided to save my moolah on something more worthwhile, like gallivanting.
simon Haha! I fiddled with it too, but I think as Huei mentioned, we need to check with the local operator.
Not Symbian OS? I thought it is running on Series40?
Jason Yes, and I think it’s a Nokia OS and not Symbian, hence no lagging issues.
You PUSH, then TALK lah… hehehehe.. ok on a serious note, both parties need to subscribe PTT then you can talk like using a walkie talkie style. Cost RM1 per day or RM15 per month for Maxis PTT services.
Looks good but i’m a sony ericsson kinda guy
Julian Both parties eh? Looks like a waste of time then.
Moses Francis I’m truly sorry to hear that…
i’m using maxis, but its difficult to setup the GPRS, i got please subscribe to packet data… i already activate my GPRS
