I Get a Rush! (Germany vs Argentina Preview)

Germany vs Argentina, England vs Portugal. The next games I cipher will be between Italy vs Switzerland and Brazil vs Spain. Savoury ties indeed (barring the Italian’s game). Argentina, Portugal, Italy and Brazil should prevail from their respective battles. As much as I love Germany, I have to be pragmatic about their chances. As I have previously mentioned, my expectations was for them to reach the quarterfinals, and that they did.
:-)

This week, there’ll be no footie on Thursday/Friday. It’s a conspiracy I tell ya. SUPERMAN RETURNS this Thursday, and I bet that Sepp Blatter wears a Superman costume before he goes to bed each night. LOL! I’ve already reserved my tickets at the new cineplex in Damansara. It should be a feel good movie. I’m looking forward to it. Have splurged needless moolahs last Friday at the Curve. They were having some Superman promotion and I was bamboozled into buying them. 1.5 years away from turning 30 and I’m still a sucker for Superman. And a proud one too! LOL!

Germany vs Argentina is gonna be a smashing game! If an early goal is scored, we’ll see a very open encounter. Klinsmann has cultivated an early German bombardment approach as seen from their previous games. The Argies will be weary of the menace, and are certainly more than capable of scoring. I think this tie will go into extra time and possibly penalties. The Argentinians start are slight favorites in this game, but as always I’ll be rooting for Germany to barge their way through.

Ballack played a phenomenal game against Sweden (pity no goals to show for it) the last time around and Germany seem to be peaking at the right time. Argentinians, to me, are the best team in the World Cup, should upset the hosts. Whatever happens, I hope it’ll be an entertaining showdown between 2 juggernauts of football. Klinsmann has done wonders to Germany, given the dearth of quality available, and should remain at helm until the next Euro no matter what happens in this clash.

“I like it, I like it, I can’t get enough, I like it, I like it, yeah, I get a rush
I like what I like and I like it too much, You know what I like, yeah, I get a rush
From you, everything you do…”

BRAZIL VS ENGLAND SEMI-FINAL PREVIEW
It is just before the England v Brazil match. Ronaldinho goes into the Brazilian changing room to find all his team mates looking a bit glum.“What’s up?” he asks.

“Well, we’re having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it’s important but it’s only England. They’re sh*t and we can’t be bothered.”

Ronaldinho looks at them and says, “Well, I reckon I can beat them by myself-you lads go down the pub.”
So Ronaldinho goes out to play England by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few jars. After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads:

“Brazil 1 – England 0 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes)”. He is beating England all by himself!

Anyway, a few pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers, “It must be full time now, let’s see how he got on.” They put the tv on.

“Result from the Stadium: Brazil 1 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes) – England 1 (Lampard 89 minutes).”

They can’t believe it; he has single-handedly got a draw against England!!
They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate Ronaldinho. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sitting with his head in his hands.

He refuses to look at them. “I’ve let you down, I’ve let you down.”

“Don’t be daft, you got a draw against England, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end!”

“No, no, I have, I’ve let you down…I got sent off after 12 minutes.
