Beethoven’s 9th Symphony

OLE! I have finally found a companion to watch a classical concert at the Istana Budaya. RM33.50 well spent. It started approx 8:45pm, and after 15 minutes, I was trying hard not to flake out. Then, out of nowhere, came a snore from someone behind me, which made the people around us chuckled in agreement.

Half an hour later, in came the singers, and the choir. That made it much better. They went full blast on Bellissimo and that tune that MJ hijacked for one of his videos. The claps, easily the longest one I’ve ever witnessed, some 3 minutes! I’m not kidding, just ask my blind date, Shirley.
We then headed off to Federal Hotel’s Delaney’s to join my Irish colleagues to celebrate St Paddy’s Day.

The choir reminded me of my younger days, when I was in my primary school choir, and we used to compete with other schools in the Keramat district, Kuala Lumpur. Our school choir also appeared on SELAMAT PAGI MALAYSIA, where for the first time, I experienced the weightiness of the lipstick. LOL. We sang “Malaysia Tanah Air Ku”.
I’m hoping to catch some plays and orchestras in the coming months. Suddenly feeling cultural, a few months before hitting 30. Never too late I suppose! Hahaha!
Malaysia oh tanah air ku
Tanah tempat tumpah darah ku
Negeri elok amat ku cinta
Yang ku puja sepanjang masa
Sawah mu terbentang meluas
Tumbuh-tumbuhan hijau merendang
Bukit mu lurusnya terbentang
Tak jemu mata ku memandang
Sungguh indah di Malaysia
Negeri yang kaya raya
Tempat pusat berniaga
Terkenal di seluruh dunia
Malaysia negeri ku Malaysia
Pusaka tinggalan moyang ku
Tetap sentosa hidup merdeka
Malaysia tanah air ku

I like this song. Also there are other songs we sang in primary school:
Kuala Lumpur ( i forgot the lyrics)
Kereta Bapak Ku (pon pon pon pon pon….)
Aiks!!! After I read paragraph 3, I became more interested to know about your blind date than the concert now. LOL
guess what’s beethoven’s favourite food? BA-NA-NA-NAAA…!
yeah i know its a lame joke.
woah! someone snored?? hmmm

endroo G Yes, and I can still remember singing it live on air on SELAMAT PAGI MALAYSIA.
Jemima She was fun, we traded dry humour all night.
simon What the? Hahahahahaha! Now that’s a comment I never expected!
huei Yes! LOL. I was trying hard not to doze off too. But thank God the singers came to the rescue.
clement Well, they’re pretty good, if you’re into this kind of stuff. It’s my first dab at it, and hopefully more to come.
That man beethoven has brought many lost soul to live from the first track to the last of his death even if he is death
