KK-rized
I’m left with a concourse of thoughts on where to begin writing about my 4-day KK sojourn. It didn’t fully live up to my expectancies in terms of natural ambiance. The island snorkelling loses out to Tioman. I’m sure there are better islands than those. The Poring Hot Springs was a thigh-slapper – their idea of a hot spring were bathtubs. LOL! KK Park was devoid of life, more for those who want to elevate the mountain. The view though, was staggeringly breathtaking. A tingling sensation on the balls. LOL.
The hoi polloi, to sum it up in a single word – FRIENDLY. Without pretence palsy-walsy people. 
And that made the trip so worthwhile that I’m earnestly excogitating to go there next May for the local harvest festival, and maybe this time, for a week. Need to get the whitewater rafting sorted out. 
The highlight for me was cannonballing along in a Kancil from Poring Hot Springs, some 150km back to the city, and plumped in under 2 hours. 3:45pm, arrived 5:30pm. It was F1-like balls of steel drive, with the help of my co-pilot Ravind. The only thing absent were our driving helmets. LOL! We were overhauling hoards of vehicle, pickups, trucks, lorries, none were spared. The kancil was indeed zippy though it had a knavish first gear.
We splurged on liquor and booze on all 3 nights, had slumbered under 14 hours in 4 nights. Forced insomnia. But, we did what we came here for, we painted the town red. 3 bottles were swigged. And the company we had for all 3 nights, were nothing short of amazing! 
Hmmm…I thought the cowboy hat and the snorkeling gear made me one of them, don’t you think? LOL. I will come back for you, Kota Kinabalu.

Snorkling on the Islands around KK is for people who do not have time to venture further I guess. Sipadan, Pulau Tiga are at a different league
meekiee I did, we made the best out of it.
Gaman Agreed, I’m sure there are better islands to visit, and will be doing just that for my next KK excursion. Any recommendations (in KK) apart from the snake-infested Pulau Tiga?
cool… i want to got to KK too… hoping to go next year to Sipadan, and catch myself a pirate… Arrgggrr.

philters Errr…I don’t think so. Go check the definition of camwhore, I think you’re getting it mixed up.
evil is upon you… you got to dive at sipadan it one of the best dive sites in the world….just watch out for the philippine pirates they might take you for ransom…but kidding aside its one of the best dive sites ive ever been too… if your not a lic. divers you still can go down on one of those introductory dives… you wont regret it

and i agree with lucifer, check out sipadan. its a waste to go all the way to sabah and miss out on the dive.
I agree with you about Poring Hot Spring. What is so hot about it? But what hurt us most was heavy rain, very heavy rain, we didn’t climb up the mountain.
The 3 islands actually not too bad for snorkeling if u go at the right time

Lucifer Oh thank you oh horny one, Sipadan is definitely on the list. As I said, I know KK has a lot more to offer. Was thinking of getting a diving license first from Padi. The million dollar question is, when?

Bengbeng Yes, that was a disappointment. Sorry to hear about the heavy rain, I was kinda blessed with excellent sunshine throughout my stay. Well, the islands are nowhere as good as the back-then Tioman. Whitewater rafting?

tihtahpah Didn’t go up the mountain as I don’t think it’s worth it, I’m more of an island person. I will do the whitewater rafting in my next trip to KK, hopefully next May.
Jemima Bali should be good (again!), but the one I’m looking forward to the most again is Seoul for New Year’s Eve.
