Secondhand Car – Lady Driver or Man Driver?
If you are planning to buy a secondhand car, would the previous owner’s gender play a big role in your decision? I remember how many people claim that it’s best to buy a car from a woman driver because she maintains the car very carefully. YES – but only aesthetically!
While men fail in maintaining the car in the aesthetic department, internally, the car is probably better maintained that women. Women are known to fail in maintaining the car appropriately – of course, not all, but I would go on a limb and say most.
So, what decision would you make, get a secondhand from a lady driver who maintains the outlook of the car but not internally or from a man driver who maintains the internal parts of the car pretty well, but probably fail in the aesthetics department.
I remember someone telling me that his woman friend maintains the car beautifully but never drives it past 4th gear (when manual cars ruled the roads). She’s been doing that for 3 years! Can you imagine, the 5th gear is not touched at all! You think the car will be in good shape?
Generally, men “thrash” cars. Hence, for me, it’s a pretty much double edge sword. I would probably check the car internally to see if it’s well maintained and fully give it a test drive, pushing its limits. Though it doesn’t mean that the car would be “perfect”, but it helps decrease the likelihood of you buying a shoddy second-hand car.
So what if there are scratches and dents (not talking about major accident repairs), all it takes is some knocking and painting.
How would you decide?
This is interesting. Yeah! Some ladies failed to take care of the car’s inner “side”. So I guess, it’s better to go with the male driver aye!
I take good care of the cars I have driven – regular maintenance and servicing. Even detail (polish/wax, etc) every few weeks myself and I’m a female driver to boot.
Its best that u get a mechanic to check and test the car with u to see about the car’s condition. It don’t really matter if the previous owner is male or female as they both have the potential to trash or love their cars.
Mine is different.. I prefer 2nd hand car drive by man and been use a lot especially in a rough area (hiils, muddy area, jungle) hehehee… fronm there we can know how ‘strong’ the car.. maintained from the ‘looks’ pf the car is not good enough.. hehehee
i go by milleage n i get a mechanic to check the car out – im more concerned to see if its a kereta potong – 2nd hand dealers are cunning ppl – dad was in the car biz so we’ve heard all the horror stories – i dont care if the driver is female or male – after a certain number of milleage regardless of whose the driver the cars gonna suffer
hmmm i think its better to buy a male-owner secondhand car, provided the interior is not too shabby. but again, some guys totally ruin the car too! hmmm i can’t decide..
I’ll take the car from a woman with its beautifuly maintained interiors and eat grass to replace the engine. LOL.
I’d seen how my elder sisters treat their vehicles. GULP!
Quite hard to say, actually. My old car was from a female driver, at the ripe old age of 11 it started giving problems… I think the carburettor had some issues. Got a brand new one second time around.
Hmm..if the car previous owner was a man who did a lot of modification on his car, I’ll skip that since he most probably ‘change’ too much. My friend once bought such car and he end up repairing the whole circuit system and other engine related prob.
Women usually do nothing..maybe some minor mod but not too much..
So, for me, it doesn’t really matter who the previous owner was..male female..nowadays, I’ve met men who don’t even know how to change tire..
