6 Ways to Stick to Your Workout
I’ve been constantly hitting the gym over the last 2 months plus and I tell you it feels liberating to be in control of how you want to look. People always ask me how I stay motivated, well, here are 6 tips on how you can stick to your workout.
Have a friendly bet
With anyone, including yourself. No, it’s not crazy, tell yourself, if I can beat my previous running record or hit that 400 calories burn mark, I’m gonna treat myself. It’s obviously better to have a bet with someone else, because that means you will most likely won’t involve food as the prize.
Compete with yourself, outdo your records
I have been effectively doing just that. Each time I run, cycle, do the stepper, or walk uphill at a 15% incline for 30 minutes, I constantly outdo my previous records in terms of calories.
Think about fat
Yup, think about it. Observe fat people and ask yourself, do you want to be like that, where you’re at the point of no return, and suffer from low confidence? Keep thinking about fat, whenever you work out or even consume food.
Look yourself in the mirror and do a daily belly check
Although this can backfire simply because bellies take the most longest time to burn. It’s good to keep looking at yourself daily, as a warning to yourself. Do you want to keep that belly for the rest of your life, knowing that it affects your attitude?
Plan workouts in advance
I always tell myself, today, I’m gonna hit the treadmill, on a 15% incline for 30 minutes, and I intend to outdo my previous record. Once that’s over, I will spend another 45 minutes on 8 different machines focusing on all the core area.
Make your goal attainable and attractive
When you plan your workout, don’t give yourself a crazy target, always try to perhaps at between 3 to 5% of your previous workout. But if you feel you can do more, try 10%, but remember, at some point, you will reach a plateau, so it’s always good to have a small incline to give you a longer workout regime.
I’ve lost 7 kilos in 6 months. I can do it. You can do it too.
