They shook the Rainforest World Music Festival in 2008, emerging as the best performance of that festival. I’m sure that many of you who attended last year’s festival are aware of this band. They will be back for the Rainforest World Music Festival in 2009!

I have been invited to attend this show by a member of the band, Vicky, whom I knew since my college years, and whom I have done a musical collaboration with for Elton John’s Candle in the Wind – infused by his tabla performance and aided by a sitar too while I played the guitar and sang in front of 1000 people.

AkashA is performing in KL this Sunday & Monday, 22nd and 23rd March 2009 where they will be showcasing their debut album.

This band has a lot of potential and their blend of music is incomparable, fluxing a diverse genre of music braided together with a some cultural musical instruments of the world. This is Indian fusion meets the best of world genres!

I’m looking forward to receiving the free CD for review as I witness their debut  show at KLPAC this Sunday. I have a good feeling that it is gonna be a helluva showcase!
