January 2009 Recommended New Songs
[ad]
While waiting for my new blog on music to be launched in the coming weeks, I initially thought of restraining on new songs that I have unearthed during January. It was difficult trying to hold back because I really wanted to share with everyone.
At last, after much consideration and before my new songs library expounds to the point where I would have to immolate the songs, I’ve decided to post them. I have not decided when my new song blog is established, on whether to cross link the entries to this blog yet.

2 Play Feat Thomas Jules and Jucxi D – Careless Whisper
Isn’t it apparent, by the name of the tune, it’s a remake of Wham’s classic 80′s hit? This song was covered by a never ending list of artistes, including the overrated Dave Koz. This is a trip the light fantastic version. 7/10
Babyface – I Need a Love Song
I’m not a fan of Babyface, as there’s something about him that makes me feel he’s a better writer than a singer/performer. “Everytime I Close My Eyes” is just plain dull, though the duet with Desiree on “Fire” was not too brassy. 7/10
Paul Baloche – Open the Eyes of My Heart
This is a spiritual tune, sounding similar to U2′s With or Without You in the verses. The chorus is unambiguously attention-getting and should be introduced in local Catholic churces in a dire need for modernization. 8/10
Kat DeLuna ft Lil Wayne – Unstoppable
The chorus is so bloody catchy when you hear it the first time, and with its cracking rock-fied instilled beat, it has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster. Unfortunately, by the time you listen to it the second time, you feel chafed, because Kay Deluna repeats the chorus “Unstoppable” a tad too much. 6/10

Bruce Springsteen – Working on a Dream
The boss is back with a new album, and I must say that it’s much better than the previous codswallop he released. The title track is the best song on it, with the lyrics to the chorus that we can personally relate. 8/10
Divine Brown – Lay it on the Line
A toss back to the 60s on the beat though it’s a new track. Thanks to Amy Swinehouse and Duffy, it looks like 60s music is slowly pussyfooting back in trend. I for one though am a sucker for them. 7/10
Hoobastank – So Close So Far
Remember, “The Reason”? This song is nowhere near it, and their latest album sucks. Maybe they felt that the success of “The Reason” is good enough reason for them to be daring. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The only decent song on the new album. 6/10
Beenie Man ft Ms Triniti – Burnin Burnin
A catchy track made for shaking your bum bum and whatever part of your body you can jiggle, except strange extensions in unusual areas. I’m certain you would grind your butt to this, all the more after downing a couple of glasses of liquor. 8/10

Lionel Richie feat Akon – Just Go
I’m balled over by the collaboration of Akon and Lionel Richie of all people! Come to think of it, maybe not. Jay-Z and Limpkin Park takes the cake for the most rotten collaborations. Jay-Z sucks bigtime! A relaxing tempo to this reggae-sounding track makes it music to the ears and your feet. 9/10
Pitbull – Calle Ocho
Reggaethon given the speed treatment. No, it still won’t attract to you pill-popping fuckers at nightclubs, but it will certainly please people who love to dance. People like me. Though these days, my love handles give me an undesirable handicap. 8/10
India Arie – Therapy
I remember the song “Bag Lady”, and I wanted to throw a bag at India Arie for irritating the hell out of me. I would’ve paid Achmed the Dead Terrorist some boodle to take her out of the musical equation. Good thing I didn’t because her latest effort is pretty laudable. 7/10
There you have it, recommended tracks for January 2009.
