Building Trust

Do you have trust issues with your loved ones? I always believe a relationship should start with an unconditional trust, chances have to be taken, hearts have to be put on the line. Else, what’s the point of being in love? I know, the pain can be really bad if one’s hurting from the past.

I think you should let the person know your true feelings, emotions and reactions. Have confidence in them to respect you and not take advantage. This will help them be supportive thus reinforcing you, even if you let your guard down. That’s the substance of relationships that permits you to need others to fulfill yourself.

I’ve experienced some deal of emotional neglect during my younger years, and have been squelched by my so-called friends for the way I felt or what I believed in. I caved in – and I’ve learned from my mistakes. It hasn’t stop me laying it all on the line, to risk getting hurt again.

Is it self-esteem a reason for trust issues? Maybe one cannot fathom that they are deserving of the attention and care? They have problems even trusting the positive, healthy, and reinforcing behavior of another who is sincere.

Hope. Without hope, we can become emotionally isolated. Not everyone is evil. Take the risk to be open to others. It’ll let you become a real person. It is an requisite behavior in building trust between two people because it is the grounding of strengths and weaknesses on which you have to absorb as the relationship evolves.

Without trust, a relationship is nothing.
