Doggone Tamilians & Their Culture
[ad]
I’m regurgitating one of my oldest blog posts with some updates.
What’s with yesteryear Indians and the need to prolong an alleged culture? I can’t speak tamil for nuts but it doesn’t mean I’m not civilized. These folks been dwelling under the coconut husk for so long that they can’t distinguish culture from tamil movies (they think it’s one and the same). BTW, I detest tamil/hindi films – really stupid synopsis with thick-skulled acting. So what if India releases 900 films a year, they’re all the same rotten plot.
Polarization is becoming a cause for concern these days. Most of my friends in college were Indians. The “muhibahness” somehow got lost in the process when we left school. I’m an advocate against having racial schools in Malaysia. We should abolish them all before racial polarization becomes too prejudicial to remedy. We should even polish off the word “RACE” from all forms. Why RACE? Aren’t we all MALAYSIANS – A single race?
I always hate it when old people tell me that I should learn my maternal language. Most of the time, I normally hark back with a real snappy remark. MIC is a self centered organization, and does not represent the sane Indians. So is Hindraf, just an over-the-top hoopla concocted by politicians or future politicians to capture the minds of estate Indians who think they are worldly.
As the infamous saying goes, you can take an Indian out of an estate, but you can’t take the estate out of the Indian.

You hate tamil/hindi films? Hmm…
I’m with you Danny…these jokers will never come to realization. No hope bro.
I’ve given up bothering about things like these anymore, not worth the stress …
yes! they should rub off the ‘race’ column from forms…it’s easier not to discriminate.
this is one of the thing why i missed yasmin ahmad a lot… her honest thought will always being carry on by the now generation. we are malaysian, not chinese, indian nor malays… why do they need to differentiate one another. I’m half chinese and half native. Going to the chinese school i was called as the budak melayu coz i speak better malay than they do, going to the kebangsaan school, i was called as the chinese boy just because i could speak and understand chinese… yes its a compliment but it wasnt pretty with the teasing and all…
if really the wanted to achieve 1malaysia then they really need to take super bold move by abolishing a lot of stuff rather than just a race column on a piece of paper. then again, its not a time give up coz i do believe that my children will be able to live long enough to see that day to come.
whoa my friend! don’t group us all up to be alike. as with any race, there are a variety types of people in every one race. there are the extreme nutcases, as there are the broad-minded rationalists.
and hey… some of the latest indie Tamil movies are nothing short of impressive. no Daniel.. they aren’t all the same rotten plot.
tekkaus – Yes I do.
jay – Yeah.
Nick Phillips – True, let’s start a human exchange program, transfer all illegal immigrants from East Malaysia to West Malaysia, and selected West Malaysians to East Malaysia, and then start the breakaway process.
Amanda – Yup, but we all know it won’t happen. 1Malay-Sia.
Daniel Chiam – I have to admit, Yasmin Ahmad was bigger than the credit I gave her for. This 1Malaysia is just another drama minggu ini.
Paulin – Didn’t mean to offend you, but that’s how I feel, and nothing will change that. The last time I watched a Tamil movie was more than 14 years ago, and that was because we didn’t have ASTRO and the choices were limited on TV.
no la!.. of cos you didn’t offend me! it was just a banter on my part.
